They're both doing the same thing. However, I looked through a long list of hand gestures and didn't see this one anywhere. But it's not an accidental thing, clearly. It has some sort of meaning to them, but I don't know what it is.

Note the little finger tucked under the adjacent finger on Willard's hand, and the position of the thumb on both hands. Those are deliberate, and are not natural positions for the fingers. I'll look further.

caught forever by a camera. Watch when our Michelle waves as she walks onto the stage at the DNC to give her speech. She holds her hands up and waves at the crowd with both hands. If a photographer were to snap a shot at just the right moment, her hands would also be frozen in just this position.

Nevertheless, I love that these two were captured in this awkward pose!
