Chris Murphy (D) is running for US Senate in Connecticut. He's in a close race with Linda McMahon (R) .
Murphy is a good Congressman.
Linda McMahon's main experience with lawmaking is that as a wrestling-company executive, she lobbied for looser safety regulations for protecting the wrestlers.

Her evidence is that he got a better deal than the average person.
The problem with that argument is that members of Congress generally have brighter financials futures than the average person, and banks have more incentive to lend to people with bright financial futures.

(25,415 posts)"The bank has pushed back against McMahon's allegations, twice releasing information to the media that indicates Murphy and his wife received a middle-of-the-road deal. Experts have also told Hearst Connecticut Newspapers that, based on available evidence, Murphy does not appear to have received any special treatment. They argued Murphy's credit would have been improved by the fact he paid his mortgage debt, married and greatly increased his household income."

(10,716 posts)I contributed to Murphy as well (both of them...one in the Senate, one in the House).
Latest poll shows Murphy pulling ahead of McMahon by 4 points. McMahon HAD to pull away from Mitt, as she did the other day. Won't help, but at least she saved face.

The poll of likely voters gives Murphy a slight edge with 37 percent of the vote compared to McMahon's 33 percent. But since the margin falls within the poll's 4 percent margin of error, it's essentially a tie, said UConn poll director Jennifer Dineen.
