Anybody else getting weird script on DU posts?

I read a post just now, and it looked like this...
"My bffs son, who Ive written here about a few times..."

Several others, too.

I did nothing to bring this about.

Any help?

I cannot concentrate on the topic while an ad is shifting and changing at the edge of my vision.

the apostrophes seem to translate to garbage. Thus up there you have "bff's son" and "I've written"

so eventually you learn that the garbage is an apostrophe.

Edit to add - this has been going on for me for years on various sites. dailykos is really bad

It’s a problem with the character set. Smart quotes aren’t being recognized by some browsers so a weird question mark is being substituted. This is related to updates we’ve been doing this week.

It’s not a security issue — just annoying. Sorry about that. We’re working on a fix.

When you're seeing way too many ads, are you on mobile by any chance? What browser are you using?

after not seeing any posts about it. Whew, this is a relief personally thinking I'd been hacked but I pretty much had isolated it to DU.

There are certain things I can do only in one or the other.

I have noticed over the past couple of days that in Safari link to tweets pop up inside of posts on DU. The I am looking at DU in Chrome I have to click on the tweet to see it.

Similarly in Chrome I get the garbage you are talking about, whereas in Safari I do not get the garbage.
So it appears to be the browser. Looks like when I am on DU I need to use Safari.
