It’s not even sure whether repugs in the Senate will allow anything to go forward.

First they said $100 a week, then $200. That has since been upped to $400 by some. Now Trump himself just said "The payments aren't enough," he told reporters. "They're not making them high enough."

They know the election is coming. They silently will oppose it, but I think they vote yes.

They might decide that it isn’t necessary because they’re also sending out $1200/person in stimulus payments.

But $600 seems unlikely. It should rise from $200... but probably not back to $600

That those receiving unemployment are getting almost 3x minimum wage pay? I'm getting $289 a week.

work 40 hours for $289, your getting screwed by someone else, not me.
I worked 45 years, now my income is gone, probably forever, and you want me to feel bad for getting MY money back in times of great need? For 20 weeks.

I'm sick of it. Sick of hearing how I'm suddenly a lazy moocher because my job closed. Tired of people's jealousy that I've gotten more, while they have a full time job with guaranteed income.

From here on out, I have to support a home and 2 adults on $189 a week. Are you happy now? Does that make you feel better? Are you still jealous of me?

But so is having no job to go back to. That 600 for me goes into savings every week. I don't expect to return to work til there is a vaccine. Not possible. In for the long haul, if you think everyone spending it willy nilly, maybe you are too young to remember 2008. It
took a good 8 yrs to recover from that.

I was on unemployment for the first 6 weeks or so, and during that time made $4000 more than I would have if I was working. I did not need the money, which could have been easily seen by my household income. Our next door neighbors say they are making almost twice their normal income while they are both on unemployment.

I totally agree that many, many people need this money to live on, but it needs to be better regulated so that our tax dollars are not spent frivolously.

will immediately be put back into the economy and will help his story that the economy will recover fast. The more money they put in this bill - for an extended period of time (like thru the end of the year after the election) it could help Trump - because that money will be spent and not thrown into a bank.

That's the way to get this bill passed.

Yeah he initially said no more $600, but he doesn't stand for anything and has since relented, and knows it will cost him the election. It's Mitch that's the ideologue.

I'm getting completely screwed here. I've been working the whole time since this began, but at anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 of my normal hours. Where is my free money to make up for it? Over the past 2 weeks I got 28 hours of work in due to supply chain delays.

"Can you file unemployment if you get 1099?
If you are operating as self-employed you most likely didn't pay into your state's unemployment fund. Other than in special circumstances, If you were paid as an independent contractor and receive a 1099 form, you were not considered an employee and would not be eligible for unemployment."

What exactly am I supposed to do? I'm a 1099 independent contractor and I'm barely getting 2-3 days of work per week.

If your hours were cut to just above the threshold for receiving UE then it is your employer keeping you from that money. Anyone who is employed and had their hours cut were entitled to this. I have a family member who's hours were cut and another 5 hrs they could have received UE + the 600 + their regular pay. Don't dump on those struggling. I guarantee your employer figured out how not to get hit with UE .
