Because of my circumstances, I am not able to donate now. Been a member since 2005. I donated for years but things change.
I don't mind some ads but what is happening now, at least to me is unreasonable.
In addition to all the ads in color, what is the shadow all across the bottom. It is really a pain. If I'm the only one, them I have some kind of a site problem. Is this happening to others? I was just reading a post and right smack in the middle of a reply was an ad about an inch high.
That annoyed the heck out of me. Let me know if this is the new normal please. THe ads are getting bigger and the readable screen smaller..
Thanks,
PR

(3,335 posts)Ads are all over the place. Very annoying, distracting and hard to read DU. Thanks for trying to fix!
We're aware that this is a problem on some devices/browsers, we're just trying to figure out which ones. iPad is one that I know has been having some issues.
One of the things we're doing right now is testing out a service that auto-places ads. It's in the learning phase at the moment, so some of its choices appear to be... not ideal.
It might take a little time to strike the right balance, but we'll get there. We definitely don't want the ads to be overwhelming.

(21,939 posts)This is going to be temporary -- we're testing out a new auto-ad service at the moment and some people are getting a version of DU where the ads are being placed too aggressively, depending on what OS/browser etc. you might be using or when you happen to visit the site. We definitely don't want the ads to be overwhelming so we're working to strike the right balance. Sorry for the inconvenience.

(21,939 posts)So everything should have gone back to the way it was. We're going to be doing more testing this week but clearly the current arrangement is too aggressive.
Thanks for your patience.
