Yes, I know I am like preaching to the choir but it felt good to say!
My hope is that If Joe Biden wins (I am not saying it because I don't want to mind it). I hope he starts working on his plan. Ramp up testing, getting Corp support of at least let them know this is happening. We need WHO's help. I am terrified the death toll is going to be 300,000 and I am terrified my husband or I get this.

(5,160 posts)They were half the price of ordering through an optician locally.
Unfortunately I have to take a flight to go to a required event and I am going to go all out, safety glasses (with foam insert), gloves and mask.
Will be my first flight since this epidemic starting peaking in my area.
Going from red state to worse red state.

(42,770 posts)Just went thru grand debate about flying vs driving. And drove 4000 miles rt..
If u can sit in front of plane better. Some guarantee middle seat empty some don't. But guess you already know that.

(5,160 posts)I would get there exhausted. I have done that, but it wears me out.
Other option to rent a car, I would be dealing with same scenario. More people, unknown surfaces to touch and then to buy gas with a rental and gas stations to deal with. Public bathrooms ...Not so good with driving through red country.
I might as well do a short flight 30 minute flight and arrive not so stressed and worn out.
I know the airports well.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)went into a single restroom...found trees to pee behind . 30 min flight great!!! We were gonna have to take three flights 4 airports since direct flights from TX to CT were stopped.

(5,160 posts)you really have to prep and think through the scenarios during this terrible time.
I already have my cocktail hour prepped for when I make it back home to the cats.!

(81,852 posts)It's after the holidays in the coldest part of winter. The impact wouldn't be as bad as it would be in the next four months. But a lot of people will die between now and then.
It's crazy, but it just might work because it gives people time to prepare.
progressive nobody
(816 posts)Deeply sorry but you died for a political war? I am sorry but it is insane how many people are literally dying for politics.
Renew Deal
(81,852 posts)It's about practicality. Labor Day, Halloween, Election Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas/Hanukah, and New Years are in front of us. I don't think people will want to lock down in the next four months. It's about getting people to cooperate as much as possible.
But this bit of practicality means a lot of people die. Realistically, we should lock down tomorrow. I just don't think people will accept that easily.

(31,964 posts)Not 3% as you suggest. NY has the highest death toll in the country. In NYC they kept the subways open which spread the disease everywhere. A bad decision. They ordered nursing homes to take Covid patients which spread the disease to everyone else. A terrible decision which even the state admits was a mistake.

Just because you love and care about people does not make them safe.

(10,570 posts)Recently, concerns have been raised that Elderberry can potentially stimulate what is commonly called a cytokine storm or cytokine release syndrome (CRS). CRS was considered a major source of fatalities during the SARS epidemic, and some are reporting that we may see similar outcomes with COVID-19.
With so much misinformation out there, it can be challenging to determine what is legitimate information and which sources are reliable. Learn from our Formulation Manager, Susan Hirsch, and Chief Scientist & VP of Scientific Affairs, Dr. Jeremy Stewart, about cytokines and how there is currently no validated correlation between Elderberry and COVID-19.

We do not need a massive shutdown.
We need national mask laws and other precautions - with teeth to allow enforcement.

(26,064 posts)I wish we COULD 100% close down for 60 days, but we can't. We CAN have a 120-day national mask law with real teeth. That WILL work.
GDP down 32.9% and evictions happening again, and so many folks with no jobs and no jobs to get. The rest of the US cannot also lose jobs, businesses, housing.
