I couldn't care less about TikTok, and I'm not sympathetic to any Chinese companies, given that countries history of patent and copyright violation, spying, and reverse-engineering of technology from other companies.

Having said that, let's call what Trump is doing what it is: extortion and kick-back.

He threatens to ban TikTok....UNLESS it's sold to an American company. The company then has to settle for a rock bottom sale price, or nothing at all. That's what we used to call extortion.

The company that buys it will get a good deal on it, and today Trump said he expects to get a big chunk of that, given that it was he who caused the fire-damage sale in the first place. That's what we used to call a kick back. Person A puts a gun to Person B's head, and says "sell your company to Person C at a sale price, or I'll blow your brains out." After the company is sold, Person A goes to Person C and says "I think you owe me a kick back for providing a little 'incentive' for that sale."

This is small time mafia stuff, pure and simple. I mean, it WOULD be, if we were talking about real mafia guys; instead of a chickenshit moron in makeup and shoe lifts, who gets his ideas from watching too many mafia movies.

The difference between a real mafia guy, and a mafia wannabe like Trump is that the mafia guy would have the brains not to ask for the kickback in PUBLIC.
