"What we're seeing is the working poor being wiped out."

California ER doctor Brad Spellberg said that just now in an NBC interview about the devastating toll of Covid. Dr. Karl Chudnofsky talked about how the disease basically suffocates people.

The piece ended by saying that more beds aren’t a problem it’s additional qualified staff that’s limited. And still people don’t care. One astonished overworked ER nurse recounted driving home only to come upon a large unmasked group of people at an auto show. Another nurse expressed fears about her family’s safety.

No words for the heartlessness of people.

And, yes, it is a sign of the times that Trump, the great Demon-in-Chief, has politicized the one thing that actually can work to mitigate the number of cases. Each day, particularly after I held my nose and watched that Axios interview in its entirety, I think that if Trump isn't the Father of Lies, he is related.

Ya got these guys with a $25k Harley, in addition to the family car. They ain't that poor.

Yes, the bike is a working class attractant. That and old retired guys. Maybe, thanks to Trump and GOP, they soon may be poor but if they're on a bike, going to Sturgis, they ain't poor yet.

It's a gutless and stunningly heartless decision by retrumplicans to let this happen. I don't think they went into this with those intentions necessarily, but in enabling tRump's disastrous inaction and his shambling through this early on, they made the determination that there was nothing that could be done quickly enough to ameliorate the mounting damage of tRump's decisions. They then made the decision that it was preferable in their minds and investment accounts to get everyone back in the workplace come hell or high water and damn the consequences. These fuckwads are so short-sighted that they can't even grasp that once the working people of this country are decimated because this disease and the piss poor retrumplican-controlled healthcare system, they are in real time murdering the very people that not only fill the cheap labor jobs that drive the engine, they are the ones that the rich rely on to buy their goods and services. They're killing their workforce and killing their bottom line.

Muffy, the chauffeur died. Who are we going to get to replace him. Trump's gonna have difficulty find more undocumented labor to make the beds in Drumpf tower.

well, problem is,India and China have sold them on the idea that these "new markets' will make up for it, be it in movies or anything else..the fine print is that India and China plan on making their own crop of Billionaires, who will then cut them out of the markets. Bombay and Beijing know better than to allow the Billionaire to think they are above rules; no they will not bring baseball bats to a cricket game and insist the game be changed to suit them.

As has the entire Republican party. They've crossed the DGAF line and now it's just time to grab as much as you can on the way out the door. Oh, and shred all the incriminating documents.

Only the piously rich and entitled need apply for aid and access. For everyone else, our fate is ordained by Wall Street and its minions in Congress, the Senate, and the Cabinet. No public service is worthy enough and no excess too barbaric to decline.

Those who suffer and those who toil to save them are both informed they do not deserve consideration and encouraged to find more work, that it will set them free.
