Sigh, we have such a deep bench of talented, smart, public service Dems - the ones not chosen make me go sigh.

(70,684 posts)The "timeliness" is a good point on your part because there wasn't much of currency to having her as a guest - no jams and jellies to plug (Carol CHANNING quote). KLOBUCHAR has always charged on, sheer determination, unsinkable, and this time even seemed to radiate an extra incentive ("may have a chance"?).
Your post gives a little catch in the breath!

(11,605 posts)Shortly after the George Floyd incident. I think that was the right decision. She followed the custom at the time and sent the case against Chauvin to the grand jury, and it really wasn't her fault that he wasn't investigated back then, but I still think picking her right now would be the wrong message for Biden to send to our most loyal voting constituency, which happens to be the same constituency that lifted him up in South Carolina after many in the party had left him for dead. I in no way think Klobuchar is racist or that she did anything wrong regarding Derek Chauvin, but picking her would be a big mistake under the circumstances, IMO.

(2,398 posts)The Dems have a deep bench. Young bench. Think about it.
Booker, Castro, Klobuchar, Duckworth, etc.....
And that's ignoring the ones who don't get the VP pick this time.
In 2024....? 2028....?
Can anybody tell me who the Repubs have on the bench for next time?
Tired old white retreads!
