I've never understood Trumps re-election strategy.

I mean i know where he gets it. The strategy is play to the base first most and always. fuck the people who didnt vote for you. crush the other side on any legislation, no compromises. if you have 51% of the votes in congress, you get legislation passed that gives you 100% of what you want and you dont give the other side even 1 fucking %, even if they own 49% of the congress.

The strategy is only do shit that pleases your base period. you dont want even 1% of them leaving you. He gets that strategy from Hannity and Rush and Levin and heritage. Thats their playbook.

So here is what i dont understand.

Ive heard that trumps base will vote for him NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES. does that include him signing medicare for all, working with pelosi and schumer? because thats the smart thing, work on bringing liberals and moderates into your camp by giving them things they want. and you know that its safe for you to work with liberals because even if you pass liberal stuff, your base will never leave you NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES. (thats the claim right?)

his base + bringing in liberals = re-election win.

WHY doesnt he work more with liberals? give them stuff they want? anyone? anyone? bueller?.....

because the minute he starts working with liberals and giving them stuff to try to attract more voters, his base is going to turn on him and leave him and denounce him and adopt some other crazy leader like KID ROCK or CHACHI.

the whole idea that his base will never leave him is bullshit. the minute he tries passing shit that the nra doesnt want or the heritage foundation doesnt want or the chamber of commerce doesnt want, stuff that regular americans DO want, the right wing is going to turn on him so fast that its predictable.

they might do it anyway soon. this school disaster might finally be enough for his base to say fuck it im done.

He is a fucking idiot . He reacts based on how he is feeling emotionally at the moment. He makes decisions based on how he thinks it will profit him personally.

if you listen to him he tries to parrot hannitys talking points, his way of speaking, russia russia russia, thats straight hannity

trump is just a puppet. the people who feed him his lines and decide what things he is going to support or not comes from the heritage foundation, hannity, right wing media heads.

left to his own he would be taking both sides of every issue depending on who talked to him last cuz he is so stupid.

he thinks the tricks and bullying and lawsuits that have carried his worthless ass through life will KEEP working, but doesn't seem to understand that when ###,### Americans are DYING, they just might not WORK this time

...what he watches on TV.

His biographers described him as very mentally lazy, never reading books, and that he constantly watched TV instead. He struggled to pay attention to anything more in-depth.

He watched Fox News all the time and parroted whatever they espoused, and that was the appeal to his base. He "told it like it is" because that's the same sewage they regularly soaked in. And he surely seemed to legitimately believe in that stuff because he did, after Fox News filled up his mostly vacant brain with their ideas.

It wasn't some genius plan by Trump. He got brainwashed by Fox News too, but he was also immensely helped when running for President by his "celebrity" and name recognition. That's something that Fox-cultist Bubba from some little town in Alabama couldn't match. Bubba also won't be regularly interviewed by Fox News, which might otherwise cause a feedback loop that encourages more of his cult following by stoking his narcissism.

Since Fox News hasn't been stoking his narcissism as well as others lately, Trump is surely getting more of his brainwashing from OANN now.

Edit:
Trump used to have more liberal positions long ago, but I think that coincided when the mainstream media gave him more attention... until his business failures and general idiocy became obvious to more serious reporters. His wealth and influence had them fooled for awhile too, back when commercials like this were shown:

Nothing he’s said for several years isn’t standard fare on talk radio and a slightly watered down version on Fox. Radical left, god ,energy, guns - the only thing he hasn’t touched yet on Joe is the “creepy Joe” thing.

As far as his record - he is programmed to always be positive. Always. It’s not just salesmanship or narcissism it’s his father taking him to Norman Vincent Peale’s church. The power of positive thinking. Negative means failure.

Trump’s hold on his base is not as solid as they portray. These are teabaggers and white nationalists basically. They are absolutists. Any compromise will be viewed as a RINO sell out. This is a product of gerrymandering. Because they carved these safe conservo districts, it becomes a breeding ground for extremism because there are no moderate voices to temper them. I also think Covid19 has scrambled all our political assumptions. A lot of Trump’s base have lost their jobs and are eating dirt. We shall see how it plays out

Best I can come up with is that, by flinging so much poo that the environment is literally filled with flying turds, people will be confused and tired, and just give up challenging him on anything. In other words, exhaust people by wearing them down slowly so that they give up, then just sit back and let your minions harvest the fruits of victory for you. Governance by spectacle on this level is something fairly novel in the US, and most people have no defense against it.
