VIDEO Update on Empty Chair Lynching in Texas -- Chair has been cut down.

Here's a local news video with an appearance by the 'charming' man in question.

Austin Man Hangs Empty Chair From Tree Symbolizing President Obama

A Northwest Austin homeowner, who hung a chair from a tree meant to symbolize President Obama, has taken it down.

The political blog burntorangereport.com first talked about the display in the Spicewood Estates area Wednesday night.

The fold-up chair, with an American flag attached to it, was hung from a tree in front of Bud Johnson’s home and some neighbors complained that it was racist.

KEYE TV News wanted to find out from Johnson about the chair and why he put it up. KEYE TV reporter Lydia Pantazes and photojournalist Mario Pena went to his house Thursday morning. As they arrived, Johnson was taking down the chair and he advised Pantazes and Pena “to get the hell away.”

More newscasts will have this story later this evening. Additional links will be posted then. This may be the only one that actually shows the homeowner, though, if anyone is interested in that.

Another story. Now includes video: http://www.kxan.com/dpp/news/local/austin/austin-empty-chair-lynching-goes-viral|

he was so adamant to make his point, but then even quicker to back pedal when he realized he can't possibly support his own views. I think he pooed a little when the news lady showed up and he threatened to sue her for doing things he doesn't like

I'm sure he got much more pleasant and welcoming as the day wore on and others arrived.

well then don't look at my lawn or I'll sue you! He reminds me of Hank Hill's abusive father only with longer legs.

I hang my fold-up chairs from trees too, for the same reason as the dumbass did. Like him, I have nowhere else to put the damn things.

Nah, Bud Johnson isn't a racist.

With a DU mention at the end of the story!

Other liberal online sites such as Daily Kos and the Democratic Underground have also weighed in on the Austin incident.

Other neighbors declined to talk on camera, but described Johnson as a "good guy," "very conservative" and a war hero.

After photographs of the hanging chair were posted online Wednesday evening, hundreds have posted comments or sent emails in response.

"I'm glad he took it down," said Stephenson. "I just hope he doesn't put it back up."

The right to free speech protects political displays, and Austin police confirm there's nothing unlawful about Johnson's display.
