By store employees.... I keep seeing this at Home Depot and I finally said "you know the mask is useless if it doesn't cover your nose?"...he was dumb enough to respond " people can't understand me with the mask on "....he then held it over his nose and asked if he could help me, I was no thanks thinking I don't want to catch anything you have.

(33,999 posts)report it to your local health department. It's their job to enforce the rules.
I reported one today - in the 30 minutes I saw her, she made no effort to cover her nose so it was very clear it was intentional. Since this was a restaurant - in which patrons are unmasked to eat - this is particularly dangerous.
Around here, the health department follows up. My daughter's company got reported because one of her coworkers has chronic laryngitis and because a patron was not wearing a mask while eating. The former - probably not a bad report. The latter - totally silly. But the health department followed up on both.
I only report stores when they make no effort to enforce against customers (I reported Dollar General after the cashier told me she was not permitted to say anything to the customers entering maskless. But employees are a different matter.

(1,522 posts)The mask is what keeps their virus in. The face shield would help if someone coughs on them, but does nothing to slow their spread of a virus or even slow down their breathing in someone else's exhalation.
Several different stores I saw this when I was out last week. I try to stay in, but you have to buy groceries and supplies occasionally.

(17,414 posts)Ultrasound, then blood work.
I'll be wearing both a mask and a full face shield.
I'd wear a spacesuit if I could.
I was totally dumbfounded the last time I walked into a lab to get blood work. People with their masks around their neck, eating, coughing in between bites. No one enforcing the mask rules.
I won't even wait in the waiting room. I'll give them my phone number, go stand outside, and ask them to call me when they are ready for me.
I'm not letting some dumb fuck infect me if I can help it.

(33,999 posts)They're pretty good at catching droplets (as good or better than masks because the barrier is impermeable). They are less good at aerosol - but the situation dictates how bad that is.
As to aerosolized matter top down shields are pretty poor, front shields are pretty poor. Bottom up, ear to ear shields are not bad. They are worse for people moving around (wait staff, store employeees) who leave a cloud of aerosolized matter in their wake. They are not bad for faculty who can confine them selves to one position with a gap between classes. They are worse with vigorous circulation (can you feel a breeze? If so, the aerosolized matter is going to be blown with the breeze.

(16,373 posts)Every single time I ask the patient to please pull the mask back over their nose, that their nose connects to their lungs and that they are experiencing the discomfort of wearing a mask without the protection it offers. They will usually roll their eyes at me and pull it back up for a few minutes and then pull it right back down. Drives us all crazy.

(422 posts)Now I just give em a nod and a "see you soon." Did I mention I don't leave the house unless I'm wearing my modified Steampunk Plague Doctor attire? This seems to work pretty well. I had one guy challenge me with a "Whut's that s'pposed mean?' I just kept my voice cheerful and replied "It means I won't save you, but I'll happily tally your corpse."
Next I'm thinking of making Plague Doctor "Ask about my Family Discounts" business cards.
I have too much time on my hands.
peace,

(14,852 posts)Whenever a reporter interviews someone "on the street", there's the interviewed person's nose exposed every time! I keep yelling at the TV, like that does any good.
It's especially annoying because it's like the news stations are trying to promote bad behavior now!
