He made it okay to be "out 'n' proud" as a racist, a sexist, a bigot, and more. He made it safe for them to come out of the closet. OF COURSE they're gonna love him for it. He liberated them to embrace their lower (or lowest) selves - and to be proud of it.

Lebowitz has some great observations and insights, and expresses them so precisely. I vaguely recall having a hard time getting through one of her novels (and failing), but I still love her.

27. So much of the "Love of Trump" is really just "Hatred of Liberals"

A "liberal" being defined as someone that doesn't meet the white, conservative definition of conformity.

We are seeing a perfect demographic storm play out:

- Baby Boomer America is rapidly losing relevance after being the driving political and consumer force for 50 years.
- White America is on the verge of going from "majority" to "plurality" and is fighting that at all costs.
- 50 years ago, someone with a high school education could get a job to raise a family. 35 years ago, one person couldn't do it, but a couple could. Now, even two people with high school educations frequently struggle.
- A bloated billionaire class is sucking the oxygen out of the economy.

This is totally off topic but I was reading DU and listening to NPR as I waited in the cell phone lot for a friend to arrive, a bit late as it turned out, which is rare as most flights are early from my experience. Anyway, I'm glad he was late because a woman on NPR was describing the rather unusual experience of falling in love with another woman after being in straight relationships all her life and now married for 10 years. She spoke of this instant crush that overcame her when she first spied the object of her desire, which she described as, "a woman in a business suit with a handsome, masculine appearance."

I was trying to picture what such a person might look like, I swear I was, when Fran's image popped into view as I clicked on this intriguing Post.

It was spooky.
