My wife left me when my son was 3. (I know I was a dick. I was also a Republican, and idiot back then and later came to my senses) My life was devastated. I actually considered suicide once. pistol at my temple thinking no one loved me, life sucked, without my family I had no one. SOMETHING, God, my mother's spirit, I don't know, stopped me. I slogged on, I paid child support religiously and tried to pay rent, and car payments and have a life of my own AND share my life with my son. Yes, I guess I am the entitled 47 %.
I wanted to make sure that my son did not want for anything. (My father was the sole bread winner and there were 7 kids to feed, clothe, house, teach and love.) I didn't get to go to private school, neither did my 6 siblings. If I wanted clothes cooler than what mom bought or MADE on a sewing machine, I had to pick fruit for the money AND I DID!. I delivered papers for pocket money because with one bread-winner in the family and 9 mouths to feed, there wasn't much to go around. There were 9 of us in a 5 bedroom house with one goddamn bathroom. But then we weren't laying around waiting for the Government to bail us out
Let's just say we did not own a fucking car elevator. If we wanted to go to college, we had to take loans, you sold stock options.
My brother enlisted in the Army a week before his draft notice came in '68. Unlike your France touring hubby, my brother served in Viet-Nam.
I tried to enlist in '74 and lucked out failing the hearing test. But unlike you and your elitist sons, I TRIED!. Also, my mother died in 1974. My dad was left to raise the three kids left (I was the middle of 7). I moved back home to help. Yes, we are the entitled 47% who expected Uncle Sam to support us...we were just to fucking proud to ask for it.
21 years ago I met a single mother of two girls and fell in love. She was on public assistance while she went to junior college. She now makes about 90-thousand a year and LOVES paying her taxes!
Yes it is hard, when you are a normal human being. I was a member of my son's and later, step-daughter's high-school band boosters club. the last year, I was president! no pay, hard work raising money for Disney world trip and disneyland trips and performances! I am so proud of them. My son grew up and attended the University of Washington and became involved in Democratic Politics. His mother and I are so immensely proud of him! My step-daughters are just and great and I love them deeply. yes, Ann, it is hard, but you know what, I did it without cashing in one stock option.
I'm sorry it is "hard" for you Queen Ann, I truly am.

(9,186 posts)I forgot to add, my father worked as a union sprinkler-fitter. Hardcore democrat! And I love and respet him as not only my father, but my hero.

(27,985 posts)Unfortunately, the RMoney Dynasty would have just seen him as the hired help, if they deigned to even notice him beneath their royal feet.
I'm also a union member, one of a rapidly dying breed, the non public sector unions. Nursing union in my case.
I guess it could be seen as even (not really). They see us, if they see us as beneath their contempt. We see them as contemptible too. We don't need these contemptibles to rule us. We already allow them to use up precious air. But alas, no gratitude.

(27,985 posts)"We've given all you people need to know" when questioned again about their tax returns.
I do like the riff though. That overentitled biotch is just so, so, I don't know, disdainful of "you people" (that's us).

(9,186 posts)I have two grandsons who make me smile like an idiot if I just think of them (like right now) and I just want them to have the same "advanages" we have had. They will have it hard, they will not feel "entitled" to welfare, foodstamps or a "Handout" but it should be there for the day they MIGHT NEED them.
That is what America is all about..helping those in need.
