Republicans are upset about the 47% not paying income taxes.
In the Kaine/Allen debate David Gregory asked Tim Kaine whether the 47% should pay income tax.
Kaine said, "I would be open to a proposal that would have some minimum tax level for everyone..."
Republicans were all over it immediately like ants on ice cream.
Tim Kaine wants to raise your taxes!!!!!
That is exactly what you get for fire-walking in the Republican coal pit.
It is not a problem to be corrected that people with low income pay no income tax and Kaine was a fool to think that it might be "centrist" to play around with solving an imaginary Republican problem.
Let this be a lesson to all.

(10,942 posts)He had better walk that back and avoid the Romney pitfall. My honest opinion is that the wealthy that are among the 47% should be stripped out of it and forced to pay their fair share.

I mean, look at the TPM headline: Republicans Pounce On Tim Kaines Openness To A Minimum Income Tax
The entire piece is the Republican spin and it's packed with quotes from Republicans..
Never mind that Republicans/media took Kaine's comment out of context and ran with it. Here is an update via TPM:
"I would be open to a proposal that would have some minimum tax level for everyone, but I do insist, many of the 47 percent that Gov. Romney was going after pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes than he does."

Let's break this down: They can spin the intro to his point, but it's a generalized comment about "everyone." Inartful giving the current debate, but the rest of his point is very specific and clear.
That update is from earlier in the day. Yet that other BS piece is still there, with no update or clarification.
