Mitt Romney skated through last nights Republican presidential debate without suffering any major blows from his rivals. But then, this morning, he shot himself in the foot, as we see HERE: http://www.buzzfeed.com/buzzfeedpolitics/romney-politics-for-the-rich
Mitt Romney suggested in todays debate that only rich people should run for office, and then quickly celebrated the fact that hed forced a rival to take out a loan against his house.
Romney said his father, Michigan Governor George Romney, had told him, Mitt, never get involved in politics if you have to win an election to pay a mortgage.
The exchange with Newt Gingrich brought out Romney at his most tone-deaf, and echoed his offer of a $10,000 bet to Rick Perry in an earlier debate.

Romney's weakest moment was suggesting that only rich people should run for office by citing his father's advice to him: "Mitt, never get involved in politics if you have to win an election to pay a mortgage." He then bragged about his unsuccessful attempt to unseat Ted Kennedy: "I was happy he had to take a mortgage out on his house to ultimately defeat me."

I was happy that he had to take a mortgage out on his house to ultimately defeat me, Romney said. He added that he never expected to win the election.
I happened to have been wise enough to realize I did not have a ghost of a chance of beating him
I told my partners in my firm, Ill be six months, dont take my chair, he said.

Arrogant sense of entitlement.

(2,208 posts)A lot of teabaggers were behind Herman Cain.
I think much of that was to "prove" that they weren't racist.
I have a couple of teabagger acquaintances who were totally into Cain.
