so basically rachel is doing her best
to convince everybody that we have sunk to the level of belarus or north korea and that Trump will be reelected.. A bit hyperbolic.

2. I don't remember her mentioning North Korea
Rachel Maddow is comparing what Trump is attempting to do by strong-arming intelligence, and manipulating the post office and justice department with an eye on maintaining power with how foreign dictators remain in power.
The footage of Belarus law-enforcement's treatment of protesters is way too close to what's happening here. We do need to pay attention to what Trump is doing to circumvent and beat down United States norms. |

6. she did and saddam hussein as well.
She was saying that these dictators used to control the vote and be reelected with silly numbers like 99 %.
there is no way whatsover we will have that here. States control elections and I cznt see California for example report 99 % for Trump.. in all of these countries the dictators control the votes. that is not the case here. of course he is going to try to cheat, deligitimize it and so on . As far as the feds goon squads that too is being squashed after the pushback. Trump maybe a wannabee dictator but he does not have the brains and means to do as much. |

13. I stand corrected on North Korea
And I agree about Trump not having the brains. I've posted that often.
But she didn't compare as much as show parallels. Trump can't control the vote like entrenched dictators. He's not even a dictator - yet. But he sure as hell is trying. I don't think we need to panic. I think we need to be aware of history and how dictators do consolidate power. |

take a current news story, amp up the hyperbolic language and hyperventilating speculation, then come up with 37 ways to say the same news bite differently and you've gone full Maddow.

8. I'm watching her and she's not saying or implying that at all
She's provided examples of authoritarianism, and warned us that Trump can and probably will use all his means to win.
Exhibit A: Slowing down mail service so mail-in ballots are not counted after the deadline. Trump DOES have a strong authoritarian streak. We are lucky he is not a lot smarter. |

17. If we assume the worst, it's likely closer to our future than assuming that the gop will act in
a normal, law-abiding manner. I have no problem with people running around with their hair on fire, warning us of a continuation and acceleration of the most corrupt, immoral, arrogant use of power we've ever seen.
Not that Rachel is exaggerating, because she's not. |

14. i am not dismissing it.
i know Trump is going to try to steal the election but there are things he cant manage to do here that established and smart dictators can.
for example, the federal government does not run or control elections unlike all these other countries. he is trying to mess with usps but that too will backfire. its going to suppress as many gop votes than ours. many states will and do count all the mail in ballots before the election. people are aware of the crap trump is trying to pull and will request ballots early. in many states you can drop it ahead of time at registrar office or ballot drop boxes. young people are going to vote in mass this time and likely in person. we registered more dems than ever. |

16. Rachel is a debbie downer for sure
She's been doing this for years. It's her shtick. If you believed over the years, not a single Dem would've won any election since she's been on the air. I understand she is bringing attention to these issues, but she has a flare for the dramatic. I wouldn't get too caught up into Rachel.

30. Rachel is an outstanding anchor. The majority of her broadcast have been
enlightening. The bashing of her tonight seems suspect. What needs to be focused on is how similar the things happening is our country, daily, resemble what is happening with those associated with Putin. Drumpf is who needs to be dissected. He is a puppet carrying out orders for the destruction of our government, initiated by those who surround him. We are headed for ……….

I want my vote to be counted on Nov. 3rd, not tossed out by some illegal executive order or technicality trump, Kemp, etc, caused.

here in virginia you can also vote absentee in person well ahead of time at the registrar office in my little rural town, there is usually nobody there when i go. just two employees. they scan your ballot in front of you.

20. How much sunshine do you need blown up your ass along with the real, true, bad news?
There IS bad news to deliver, and there ARE serious concerns we should have.
This is NOT the same as saying "we have sunk to the level of belarus or north korea and that Trump will be reelected". But it is a real risk that Trump and the Republicans will employ enough Belarus-like tactics to put Trump back in office. It CAN happen. Take it seriously, do what you can to fight it, and don't blame the messenger. |

23. Today has been kind of demoralizing
Between Morning Joe, Rachel, and the other shows, it kind of feels like trump is attacking us from every angle and nothing is being done about it.
I'm going to do my part and get everyone I know to vote as quickly as humanly possible so that the votes can be tallied BEFORE election day. It still sucks that we're at this point. Once the ability to vote is taken from us, the only recourse left will be violence. |
