Will Nancy Pelosi be our next President ?????

I was thinking about the 2020 election and I'm sure trump will lose the general election again but this time, he won't get the "Participation Trophy" ( the Electoral College&quot . When that happens, he will file a bunch of court cases. Then he will drag the out the cases as long as he can, hoping that if he keeps the cases in the courts, that they can't certify the election even until January.
What he doesn't realize is that, (unless I'm wrong) if the election isn't certified by Inauguration Day, the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi would have to be sworn in as President.
I'm not religious, but ....PLEASE JESUS, LET THIS HAPPEN !

Sorry. If there's no election, house members won't be elected/re-elected either. Governors may have the ability to then appoint members of congress (particularly in red states where that's the backasswards way they do it. So there's a bigger chance we'd get the house appointed by R governors, and THEY get to elect a new speaker, and you see where that goes.

If anything I'd worry that scenario is actually being contemplated by Republicans.

Yes, if an election is delayed, that means the House won't have any elected representatives since every member of the House is up for reelection/election this November.

However, the example given by the OP is that an election is held, votes are cast, but Trump ties up the final results for the presidential elections in the courts.

If this were to happen, theoretically, the House would have members elected to its body, and in that instance, if the House has not certified the results, then in this example, the Speaker of the House will become the temporary president until the office is filled.

reelected, Trump is no longer president as of noon January 20. His term literally becomes HISTORY.

As for please let it happen, heavens no. VP Biden becomes President Biden in the peaceful, routine transition of power we've always had.

I'm saying that if the election goes on as planned, but trump contests the Presidential results, what might happen.

doesn't actually have to be a member of Congress. The Constitution does not require the speaker to be an incumbent member of the House, although every speaker so far has been. And there's no specific term or expiration date for the term. So even if Pelosi's term as a member of Congress expires in January, her position as Speaker doesn't. Hypothetically, then, she could still be the next in line in the presidential succession. This is an extremely unlikely scenario, though.

Hillary Rodham Clinton. There is nothing keeping her from holding this position, presuming all the Dem reps vote for her. It would be fun if only to watch Chump's head explode.

read the 12th Amendment

Also you have the elections reversed- the Electoral college vote is the one that matters, the GE vote is an extraneous popularity contest- at least according to the Constitution

any lawsuit becomes moot.

The line of succession is different than choosing the President and the methods of choosing are laid out in the Constitution. They will tally the votes, if any, after the new Congress is sworn in. If there is no majority the the selection goes to the House to choose the President.

Just put a $1,000 dollar bill on a string and lead him out the back door then throw a net over him. Falls for it every time. Even better if you have a family size bucket of KFC waiting out there by the paddy wagon. He won't be able to resist the combination. Greedy, fat fuck.

it established precedent, and that precedent is essentially "once the election certification date comes, the election is certified, and any challenges come to an end". any "dragging out" of lawsuits is over at that point.

"In a per curiam decision, the Court ruled that the use of different standards of counting in different counties violated the Equal Protection Clause, and ruled that no alternative method could be established within the time limit set by Title 3 of the United States Code (3 U.S.C.), § 5 ("Determination of controversy as to appointment of electors&quot , which was December 12."

is is that Dec 12 date that ends the lawsuits..........
