President Donald Trump was given a series of deadlines to produce his DNA and other evidence as part of mandatory discovery in an ongoing defamation lawsuit on Monday.
E. Jean Carroll is an author and Elle advice columnist who accused the 45th president of raping her sometime in late 1995 or early 1996. She initially made that accusationone of over 20 sexual assault allegations against Trumpduring the summer of 2019. Trump later denied the accusation in an interview with The Hill and Caroll subsequently sued for defamation in New York.
A letter sent by Carrolls attorneys notes that prior deadlines for the production of the DNA evidence were put on hold by an appeals court pending the outcome of a decision in a similar case filed by former Apprentice contestant Summer Zervoswho alleged that Trump sexually assaulted her in 2007.
As a result of that decision, the relevant deadlines in the Courts Preliminary Conference Order dated December 12, 2020 are no longer temporarily stayed, the letter sent to Trump attorney Marc Kasowitz notes. This letter sets forth our understanding of the current status of this case and discovery in this case as a result of the Courts recent decision.

(6,178 posts)..... in the event a body needs to be ID.
Why can't this simple standard be applied to every elected official starting with President Biden? Hell, he could give the sample the same day he hands over 8 years of his tax returns.
This needs to be codified into a law for all future individuals who want to QUALIFY to run for POTUS.

(108,973 posts)and he's released the past three years as well.
I disagree that he should have to submit to a DNA test. Soldiers do that so they can be identified in a battlefield. That reason is strong enough to outweigh a person's right to privacy.

(6,178 posts)As a former military medic, I know exactly why they have DNA samples.
And I know Biden has already turned over his tax returns.
You didn't disagree when I said, President Biden.
I can think of at least one reason to have a POTUS DNA. Probably for the same reason the Secret Service doesn't want the president, VP, and speaker of the house all in the same place at once.
A catastrophic event. Which, I hope we never have. But never say never as Gramma used to say.
And finally, why should the C.I.C. be any different than the troops he/she commands. If he/she wants their privacy simple.
Don't run for POTUS. That is a choice.

(360 posts)If he stalls or refuses, every independent out there will know that he is guilty.
A population is now educated thanks to CSI, Frensic Files and Law and Order ... they know that only guilty people refuse to provide the DNA because if one is innocent, the DNA would exonerate.
