Biden names a running mate. I am tired of speculation; I am tired of waiting, and I don't understand why he has waited so long. I am annoyed by it all.

(19,558 posts)He's getting precious TV coverage and attention. Which when one is up against Trump is a vital and difficult thing to do.
I think the lead up to his pick has been masterful.

(21,995 posts)It's too bad VP Biden isn't adhering to your schedule!
I don't mean to be rude but don't you think he and his team have reasons for their strategies? I'm sure it has nothing to do with cable news' agenda.
However, I completely agree with you about cable news. It's all just blah, blah, blah (fill up the 24-hour cycle), Rinse, Repeat. You're wise to stay away from it. Besides, anything important will be on DU!

(4,541 posts)But keep in mind that the media has built up the expectation. Historically, Ive been told, the VP slot is not announced until just before the convention.
Biden is not late, the media is stirring the pot and building up a fever of expectation well beforehand and being dishonest in the process.
If they had their way, they would call the election November 1st and just back peddle when the results started rolling in. This year, they are going to be in total meltdown because we will not likely have a winner on election night. The projections will be insane.
Thats just my two cents.

(6,280 posts)Joe Biden's VP pick is not the only thing happening. As far as not watching any news at all and relying on DU postings concerning breaking news, it's usually the posters version which may or may not be accurate or inline with your own opinion, depending on the subject matter. I choose to stay informed as much as possible.

(38,302 posts)My wife and I quit television news and opinion long before we quit traditional television. We read our news.
In inflation adjusted dollars we've probably saved over $12,000 "cutting the cord."
Our television plays DVDs and $8.99 a month Netflix. That's pretty much all it does. We can 'cast other stuff to our television but mostly we don't.
Netflix works fine over our reasonably priced DSL internet connection which we'd have anyways because my wife and I use it for work as well.
I blame television for Trump. Without television Trump would be a nobody. Television needs to die.
