Trump Says He Already Has 'Excellent' Supreme Court Nominee Lined Up in Case of Surprise Vacancy

Trump Says He Already Has ‘Excellent’ Supreme Court Nominee Lined Up in Case of Surprise Vacancy

https://lawandcrime.com/supreme-court/trump-says-he-already-has-excellent-supreme-court-nominee-lined-up-in-case-of-surprise-vacancy/

President Donald Trump, during a Tuesday interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, said that he has an “excellent” Supreme Court nominee lined up in the event that there is a vacancy on the high court.

Republican lawmakers, amid concerns about Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s health and various rumors about the possible retirements of either Justice Clarence Thomas or Justice Samuel Alito in the coming months, have repeatedly said that they would not have qualms about confirming a Supreme Court nominee during a lame duck session of Congress—notwithstanding the Merrick Garland precedent.

It has already been reported that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) favors Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Amul R. Thapar, 51, as a “prime candidate.” Seventh Circuit Court Judge Amy Coney Barrett, 48, is also on most conservatives’ SCOTUS short-lists.

Hewitt, after talking Tom Brady and Bill Belichick with the president, shifted the interview into “serious” subject matter.

YOU changed the rules (norms, traditions, whatever) , so YOU will play by those same rules.

Done. Period. End of discussion.

... it doesn't matter what the Dems say. If there's an opening before the new Senate (hopefully with Schumer leading), then Trump's choice can be pushed through.

but we have no control over what they do. If there is a Justice replaced anytime soon, let's just hope (and pray?) it isn't Ginsburg (or Breyer). Any other of those right-wing Justices would just be an even trade.

Let's just ignore it and let them have their way with us...

If we say NO, and FIGHT, it gets it out there and shows them for the hypocritical cowards they are, and makes their every move to do JUST WHAT THEY WOULDN'T ALLOW OBAMA TO DO that much more obvious. They CHEAT. Most Americans are not blind.

Or we can sit with our collective thumbs up our ass.

So in theory he could nominate his kids, Hannity or even Tedophile Nugent.

Getting them approved is an entirely different matter.

Merrick Garland's empty seat on the SC, but probably go with someone a bit younger.
