(3,941 posts)Harris was not my first choice but not because I didnt think she wouldnt be a great running mate or VP. I was kinda hoping for Susan Rice because she wasnt a Senator. Same reason I was thinking about other Senate possibilities. Rice would also be an excellent choice and I leaned toward her because it is so important to flip the Senate, I wanted to keep that seat. So who will be Harris replacement? Any ideas?
I so badly want to see Turtle McConnell out as leader.

(13,182 posts)Or if the Governor appoints the new Senator.
Either way, in 2020 I doubt that California would back a Trump party Senator

(81,110 posts)I believe Gov. Newsom chooses the replacement if Kamala moves into the Naval Observatory next January. That's the Vice President's residence.
Newsom will pick a good one - who'll get a GREAT platform for the future as a result. Not worried.
Brother Buzz
(36,379 posts)I do not know if the person completes the whole term (2024), or they have a special election in 2022. Whomever Newsom taps, will totally have a leg up in either election, which makes the choice doubly important.
Us Californians are going to have a blast speculating who it will be
argyl
(3,064 posts)She's just an excellent pick. And with Joe being 82 after his first term I can see him telling the nation he intends to be a one term President.
Pence and the Dotard must be shitting their pants. The Dotard calling her Krazy Kookie Kamala probably won't make her cry.
Come November of 2024 she could be our next President.

Probably 2024, but I'm not going to say thing that may seem like I'm wishing any ill will -even accidently- towards Joe.
