Harris is a citizen of the United States and has been since birth.
She was born in Oakland, California, on Oct. 20, 1964, according to Encyclopedia Britannica. Her parents were both immigrants her father from Jamaica and her mother from India.
By virtue of her birth in California, Harris is a natural-born U.S. citizen.
The Citizenship Clause of the 14th Amendment provides that "all persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

They said this (not African American) about Obama too.
The "her family owned slaves" apparently has to do with the fact her father's ancestors were brought to Jamaica as slaves by a plantation owner who probably raped the women and might have impregnated some. This is a terrible crime that was inflicted on many women, and to have that used against Sen. Harris-
I generally try to be nice to these two ladies, because they're not very bright (they apparently think "British Jamaican" is an ethnicity, rather than Jamaica was a colony of Britain and Africans were brought there and forced to work on plantations), alas, and don't think things through. But I sure threw it back at them, and asked specifically, "What is your point? That she's not really black? That she's not really American? That black people aren't descended from Africans? That black people were really the perpetrators of slavery, not the victims? What is your point? That being of mixed race means you're NEITHER? That other people get to define who you are, and you don't?"
I'm going to wait a bit till my BP settles down and try to gently say that they need to think about why some rightwinger would want them to pass on that sort of 'meme', and what it means, and how we white people really have to be wary of being used to stoke racial conflict rather than resolve it.
But I better go have a glass of wine before I type that out.
