https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-intel-briefings-gone_n_5f32f2b9c5b6fc009a5e72e3WASHINGTON ― President Donald Trumps interest in taking intelligence briefings has been declining steadily since his first months in office and has dropped to near zero in recent weeks, according to a HuffPost review of all of his daily schedules.
Trump went from a high of 4.1 briefings per week on average in March 2017 to 0.7 per week since July 1, shortly after it became public that he had ignored intelligence reports about Russia offering bounties to the Taliban for each American soldier killed in Afghanistan.
Mondays briefing, in fact, was the first in August and the first since July 22. That month had only three briefings scheduled.
Its remarkable that, even at their peak, they never exceeded 20 per month, said Ned Price, a former CIA analyst and a spokesman for the National Security Council during the Obama administration.
And now that they are arguably more important than ever, as foreign actors are again interfering in our democracy, tensions with Beijing are swirling, and Americas adversaries and competitors are becoming more emboldened, the president cant seem to find the time to be briefed, he added.

(29,322 posts)When you have access to that level of intelligence wouldn't you at least be curious? If it was me I would have intelligence briefings all day long. Even the declassified stuff interests me.

(5,831 posts)Putting together intelligence briefings with words of one syllable and LOTS of colored pictures can't be an easy job. Particularly when they have to insert a picture of the Orange Traitor on every page to hold his attention.

(90,762 posts)the stick drawings, so he stopped bothering. He was tired of pretending he understood. Besides, to hear him tell it, he knows more than everyone else.
They tried small words in complete sentences presented in 4 or less bullet points. Trump remained flummoxed.
Then they had to go to simple comic book drawings with one word expressions - Boom! Pow! Beautiful!. Trump was still perplexed.
Finally, stick figures with happy or sad emojis as faces under various headings like Russia, Covid19, Middle East etc,. Intelligence agencies would circle the appropriate emotion.
Trump still couldn't connect the dots.

(8,200 posts)Trump and his henchmen are as dangerous as Hitler and his SS forces. They are without any doubt dedicated fascists who are determined to seize control of government. I am extremely concerned what will happen following the election. Could it erupt into a civil war? What will be the reaction of the military if he Trump refuses to concede the election? Our nation is being transformed into a Banana Republic by a madman with the support of 30% of the electorate. I never dreamed that I would see the party that elected Eisenhower be transformed into fascist gang of thugs who have absolutely no respect for the principles upon which this nation was founded.
Can it be saved? I think that due the depth of apathy and distrust that has gripped the nation that its very survival is in jeopardy. We, yes we, have allowed this monstrosity that the Republican Party has become and have enabled it to destroy the unity of the nation upon which it was founded and affirmed in its moto: E pluribus Unum (Out of many one). The Republican Party has become the party of hatred, division, exclusion and intolerance.
