The balance of personalities, experience, age, backgrounds is perfect.
The joy I hear from POC and youth is like water in a desert.
The joy I hear from Cory Booker is like flowers in a desert, because I love Cory Booker and clearly he is thrilled.
Shes tenacious, so in the long drawn-out battle where Trump cheats and claims victory while millions of absentee ballots sit uncounted, and electronic tampering is evident in 7 states, and the court case about armed vigilantes blocking access to polling places in Detroit and Cleveland and five or ten other cities is being heard, she will keep fighting. She communicates with passion about the issues she cares about,, like voting rights.
After a few years in the White House (if Joe deecides not to run again), Kamala would make a really awesome President. She generally knows how to get along with allies, so she and Biden will have a good relationship which means he will trust her to be in the room when all the important decisions are made and she will absorb tremendous knowledge in that time, because she is super-smart and confident.
And the thought of what this does to Lindsay Grahams re-election prospects is icing on the cake. African America women already show up at the polls at a higher percentage than other groups, but I cant imagine there is a single one of them in South Carolina that would miss a chance to vote for Joe and Kamala in November.

(86,538 posts)I felt better after her speech yesterday. I think she'll be great. She was my first choice in the primaries so I am easily convinced this is a good thing.

(23,307 posts)I didnt think Id really NOT be happy with any choice Joe made but I did lean toward Rice as VP. Kamala was also my first choice in the primary. Her speech yesterday was spot on in every way. I wouldnt change a thing about it.

(86,538 posts)without mercy. There's no looking forward without serious accountability this time. And Susan Rice can be very effective as Sec. of State.

(16,616 posts)this huge wave of relief passed through me when he picked Kamala in spite of the fact I'd been wanting him to choose Susan Rice. Then, when I heard the euphoria over the pick especially from people of color, I knew it was a home run.
This was the perfect ticket. I'm so happy. I've been floating on a cloud since the announcement.

In the end the stakes are so high it didn't really matter. I have to vote Biden no matter what.

(48,996 posts)I leaned to Rice too, after supporting Warren in the primaries. But Warren frankly was too old to be VP since the opportunity here is to pass the torch and give lift to the next generation after Biden and Warren.
Harris, Rice, Warren and Duckworth have more greatness in their futures.
Such a strong bench for the team!

(18,486 posts)Every one of them has their strengths. And some of them may even be stronger than Kamala in certain areas (for example, Rice has more foreign policy/nation security experience)
But Kamala checks off ALL of the boxes - legislative record, foreign policy knowledge, executive experience, campaign chops, prosecutorial skills, eloquence, AND that "it" factor (charisma, fearlessness, charm, etc) - in ways that few others can.

(13,036 posts)positions as well, not just VEEP. Everyone of the women vetted, other women not yet vetted, AND the list of male candidates makes for a deep field of talent for Joe's administration. One of the signs of a great leader is not to surround yourself with people who think like you, but also those who don't. Diversity of backgrounds and ideas makes for a great team. I'm so proud of how Biden is doing this - rallying the troops and choosing the leaders for an AMAZING ADMINISTRATION

(9,067 posts)...the weakness was that Rice had never run for office herself.
I'd love to see ALL of the final candidates in Cabinet roles.

Watching Harris yesterday showing her humanity and ability to throw down against Trump literally brought tears of joy to me & my spouse's eyes. We were both clapping wildly throughout her speech. I'd have supported any of the short-listers, but now I see why Harris was the right choice, and I'm 100% on board.

(1,615 posts)am happy with Harris. But James Carville said jokingly Biden could Palin and still win. I agree. I don't think the VP pick matters much in this election at all.
