binary choice. If they think that sitting out this AGAIN will do anything all they have to do is look back the last few years. This just makes us REAL progressives look like idiots and I hear that enough from the right-wingers here in Texas.

Wake up! Grow up! and VOTE in November - there is a lot more than the POTUS election at stake if you don't you and the entire world will pay a big price.

is universal health care and nobody else has or ever will think universal health care is a right and not a privilege and has a policy to attain it. Nutty.

The Primaries. I liked all the candidates and really hate the bloodfest of the primaries. I will vote for the final candidate.

There’s nothing sad about it.

I guess I'm just a little more discerning when it comes to things like that.

I will vote for the final candidate.
Of course!

The polling doesn't seem to be as volatile as 2016.

Plus I knew that any Clinton would struggle in Ohio, and probably other Midwest states. It really wasn't just the many years of propaganda against her, but many people were genuinely angry about the after-effects of NAFTA. There really were people here who lost their manufacturing jobs after their employers moved to Mexico. It happened to me TWICE.

I just wasn't the type of person to get terribly upset about it because the jobs sucked! I was a college grad with a high IQ who was thinking back then, "Surely I can do better than this!" (Yet I didn't want to leave my elderly parents behind in Ohio, who were starting to show health problems and they needed at least one child to help them out.)

The jobs here would just fade away as the market stopped buying the older parts and products and re-tooling the factory for the new products would just be "too expensive" if the company wanted to remain competitive. Or technology would replace the older workforce.
But, hey...it's easy to blame NAFTA even if it was 20 years after Nixon went to China. After 1971, and after "Personnel Department" became "Human Resources" and just another "tool" to the MBAs, NAFTA was inevitable; everyone but the bean-counters just closed their eyes to the reality.

closed, by the early eighties the local mall was a ghost town. Big box stores and franchises replaced local businesses. Had nothing to do with trade deals of the nineties. Don't know what idiots who blame trade deals are talking about.

... especially after Ross Perot was harping about it.

I'm just saying that I heard coworkers express their anger toward Bill Clinton about it, saying stuff like they regretted ever voting for him.

It wasn't a big deal to me because the jobs were low-paying and physically hard. I personally put the "blame" on the companies moving to Mexico for even lower labor costs and increased profits.

I'm not ARGUING about the overall benefits or costs. I mostly wanted to share what I experienced and heard. Perception can often be more powerful than facts, as evidenced by our current insane situation.

Ross Perot was still on the minds of many people around here in the 90's, and he played a BIG role in the paranoia about NAFTA. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_sucking_sound
