You've got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You've got to be taught
From year to year,
It's got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You've got to be carefully taught!

Overpopulation IS life, like it or not.. Too much life, maybe, but still life.

'Course, the alleged, so-called "population problem" is actually a culturally dependent, localized phenomenon restricted, really, to certain areas of the Earth, and many of those areas also have extreme cultural prohibitions against Homosexuality, so maybe there's a correlation.

I'll blame heteros for most of the species going extinct this century.

I have to be here til 2050 or 2060. I will blame everyone who's squirting out babies right now for the shameful trashy mess I'm witnessing then, especially 1st-worlders, our way of life chokes the whole world.

(edit again to add: )

since most educated americans can't grasp how fast humans' population exploded, much faster than the planet can adapt to it.

really dense populations, but now it's even worse in a global sense, earth is a finite space and eventually will run out of (for lack of a better word) the 'squeezeability' factor, allowing more and more people to squeeze into a finite space.

Meanwhile we have some republicans spouting their proudness of huge families like F'ing was the right to wear a banner.

Reproduction is a biological imperative. It is what biology makes us do. I like the original poster's Dorothy Parker quote, but sex being fun is an evolutionary side-effect.

You're 100% correct that the consumption habits of the 1st world and the growth rate of the 3rd world are the roots of environmental degradation. I think the word blame is a bit aggressive - I don't blame people for wanting to reproduce, as it is something instinctual. I do blame bad behavior. I don't think sex is bad behavior.

The range of human sexuality is broad. "Normal" is just the dogmatic conditioning people have endured all of their lives.

I have almost used it in my signature but try to keep away from my deep well of Dorothy Parker-style sarcasm. Of course, when you say this quote you have to use your sharpest inflection when you get to the word "common."
