because it is more reliable than a cell phone.

Yes, I have a cell & I have had two of them that were working fine one day & when I picked them up the next morning they had gone to cell phone heaven & nothing could bring them back. I live alone, I am not young, I need a phone I can depend on.

We'd chat about nothing, reminisce and laugh. It's a completely different experience on a cell and I keep it short and to the point. I don't know how I'd date now without a landline; how would you get to know someone without long calls?

We kept our land line as a backup for years, only got rid of it recently after the signal finally became more reliable.

Haven't answered any. There's been a real uptick in those calls this week.

I don't anticipate getting rid of it.

I get a reasonable share of robo calls, but I simply hang up as soon as I figure that out. Most of the time, even though I'm supposed to have caller ID, the system doesn't capture the phone number of the caller. I have a friend I talk to every single day, and his name and number show up maybe a third of the time. So if I never answered the phone if I couldn't see a known number, I'd miss a lot of his calls.

Although if for any reason I don't feel like answering a particular call, I know that if it's important enough a message will be left.

connection to my phone(s) that I can unplug if I get persistent junk callers. Caller ID may be the best
thing that ever happened to phone service!
