They are a new shiny thing to distract us from the rolling calamity that is Mitt Romney's campaign. Mitts Campaign is so laughable I have taken to calling it the Mitt Romney Comedy Tour. So for the next couple of days we can have fun with Mitt Romney's taxes. If his income has gone down for the last couple of years in a time when most people in his income bracket have seen their incomes go up, we can bellow about what a horrid investor or money manager he is. If his income goes up, well then why is he complaining about the unfairness of life under Obama's presidency. This is what I call a win-win situation. And it isn't unfair. The reason it's not unfair is because most rich people have made more money in the last four years. Many of them complain about Obama, as if they should be making even more money while the wages of the people that work for them stagnate or go down in buying power. In any case Mitt doesn't want to talk about what a disaster his campaign is, the London Gaffathon, the 47% remarks, or his spray on pander..err tan. So, lets talk about real issues. The income disparity that Mitt's returns are going to reveal. The fact that he pays less in taxes than people that work. The fact that companies are making record profits and not using the money they don't pay in taxes to expand production in the U.S. ie they are not creating jobs. Yes, lets talk about that.

(37,364 posts)As for Romney's tax returns, they are important. He would perfectly comfortable making drastic changes to the tax code which would affect our meager income. Those returns provide a basis on which we can have a discussion of the issues you listed. His returns are a good place to start such a converstion.
