Did the Trump Campaign buy Youtube?

Every time I got to youtube's homepage the last few days I keep on seeing large pro-Trump adds at the top of the page. It's pretty annoying to deal

1. Basically, yes.

They have prominently placed ads on youtube this week. The website and the app.

13. I don't see them at all

I have an ad blocker and I bookmark directly to my own channel so that's where I start. There isn't a Trump ad in sight.

I can't imagine beginning at the home page. I don't think I have ever done it

3. They made a huge ad buy and YouTube is like every other corporate media entity --

an amoral and irresponsible prostitute whose attitude is "Just gimme money. As long as you do that then F the consequences, you can do whatever you want!"

14. That they care about the money they get in exchange for doing so, not the content/consequences?

Uuuhhhh.... YEAH. That's the point.

5. I don't see them. But every time

I open YouTube and click on the first video I want to watch, I get a a Biden ad. That's not a problem for me.

9. Pretty much

It did motivate me to research the settings YouTube uses to push ads at me. Made no difference.

I do occasionally get Chuck Schumer asking for a donation, but Trump is in heavy rotation. My favorite ad appearance was when I clicked a video of Lake Street Dive playing the anti-Trump song "Shame Shame Shame" there was a Trump ad asking about whether I approved of him - I think the video I was going to watch was the clear answer!

I just fetched the link to the video and got two ads, one from Democrats and another pro-Trump ad.

10. Get Adblock Plus. I have it. It's free. It gets rid of all the ads.

11. Click em, watch em, it only costs them money.

Id you watch. Clean the fridge, grout the tub, floss the dog, whatever. Cost them.

20. Oh God yes. I don't want to buy a new tv.

Seriously though, those ads are free unless you click or watch

15. Adblockers work, but sometimes it takes a little investigating...

... to learn which ones work best with a particular browser and such. Most people online are honest about which ones are working great with Safari, Firefox, etc.

Edit: And it can change over time because of corporations fighting constantly to force ads on us.

17. I use both Adblock Plus and Ghostery.

Got this advice from a PC-users club I belong to.

16. You don't have to go to the home page when opening YouTube..it just bypasses all that

Or, as others have said get the Adblock app
