(1,656 posts)why is Trump trying so hard to hide his financial and tax information from the American public?
He promised over 4 years ago he would release them AFTER the election and here we are one presidential election later with no idea about his finances.

(16,254 posts)And, THAT, makes me wonder why the IRS hasn't ever picked up on his fraud. He says they audit him every year.
This stay, if approved, can take weeks to months before a decision is made.
Trump has always used the court system to either avoid or wear down those suing him. He knows all the steps and isn't afraid to use them. His father was the same way. Roy Cohn taught them both well. It's so damned frustrating because you and I can't play those games.

(720 posts)Even though I'm sure he's supposed to be paying for many of them out of his own pocket. When we get rid of him it would be great if the Feds dropped a bill on him for tens of millions of dollars in unpaid legal expenses. I don't think he'll be able to get the Russians to pay that tab, because by then he'll be of no use to anyone. He'll be hawking nutritional supplements and mortgage scams on infomercial channels. Trump-branded oleander tinctures and My Pillows.

(16,254 posts)We'll probably never hear of everything he/Barr pulled, but it would be a good cleansing method if they did expose them totally. We need a good cleansing, that's for sure.
This Bannon situation will surely expose Trump for his cut, as well. After seeing the comment by Don, Jr., regarding what a wonderful action it was for these guys to fund the wall, my first thought was the kids must have gotten their cut, as well as the old man.
As someone mentioned, the Mafia always wants their cut. What better place to get it than from the taxpayers who believe in them and donate to their cause? How many times do people have to learn their lesson before they learn their lesson?

(94,509 posts)Unless they are evidence in a public trial, you DO NOT have the right to see someone else's tax returns, just as nobody has the right to see yours. If you disagree, you have to be prepared for Republicans doing the same with the tax returns of a Democrat they're going after.
More to the point, Trump's corruption is NOT an element of the Biden campaign, and is not what voters are focusing on.

(1,656 posts)elected officials don't have the same expectations of privacy that we do anyway. I want elected leaders whose tax info isn't secretive.

(94,509 posts)Nothing in the Constitution or Federal Statute requires the release of tax information.
FWIW - The Pentagon Papers related to GOVERNMENT POLICY, not private behavior.
