They are going to go after James Earl CARTER IV, slaughter him for linking the Mittens video

CNN just ran a forensic piece about how the Mittens 47% video came to light, first in snippets, then after months in whole, with CARTER IV supplying it to Mother Jones/David CORN. The focus was not much on who was the actual recording source. It was like going step by step without naming the name until -- ta-DAAA -- the Big Reveal: Just WHO was the nefarious person who was instrumental in getting it to CORN, why none other than a CARTER!!!!!!1

IV was on with Tweety last week and was a barely articulate, naif, sweet, and will therefore make an easy virgin sacrifice. His posting that he needs a job and hasn't been paid for much of anything in the past make him even more vulnerable to the vicious attacks, can you hear the wingnuts going at the twin themes of: CARTER. and POOR.

I hope there will be huge support for him, not like how Whoopi was thrown to the wolves in '04.

Carter and Goldberg. Carter on Matthews was not 'barely articulate' he was simply not presenting you with full media high gloss, which is what you are used to. To me, he seemed nervous but assured of his words and actions. I like Matthews, but he is also a very high energy person to speak with, savvy media types come up to his level...Carter was being a person, that's what a real person looks like in that context. You are used to performers in that context. He'll be fine.
And as far as Whoopi goes, can you arrange for me to be 'thrown to the wolves' like she was? Because her millions of dollars of income each and every year don't have that 'tossed aside' feeling to me. In fact, I could retire for the rest of my life off of her income from '04 alone. Or 05. This year, I'd guess she's doing double digit millions, easily. So please, please send me to those wolves. ASAP. Wolves please.

of what political thing happened with her in '04. With both Jimmy IV and her I was talking about being defended by Dems, not being abandoned, not talking about her millions and career that are her own thing.

As I recall, she used the f-word in some vague degrees of reference to Shrub's name or something like that and the Rethugs attacked her viciously and demanded that the Dems disassociate themselves from her and make her apologize or something. I don't remember the specifics beyond that she was left to fend for herself.

Her career and millions were not dependent on the Dem party. Neither was Eartha KITT's during Vietnam, but when she announced she was against the Vietnam war my tarnished hero LBJ *did* set in motion career-ending forces, with her struggling for years.

Whoopi didn't "betray" the Dems the way LBJ believed Eartha KITT "betrayed" him. There was no vendetta motive for the Dems to strangle her career. They just let her fend for herself under the attacks (a totally separate issue from her own career).

The Democratic community would fiercely push back against any rethug/teabagger efforts to take him down..imo.

He's a hero in the eyes of many...period!

At the end of the day, when we settle up the bill:

James Earl Carter IV - 1

Mittens/Rethugs -0

Romney is turning into more of a throw away candidate than I ever imagined. This is Mitt at his finest. We still have to get out and vote, never allow Mitt to be elected because we sit at home and not vote because the polls favors Obama.

How typical of them. Not to mention that it's the usual "blame someone else for the fuck-ups of our party members".

in many ways. Parts of the video have been around since August, the part about the Bain Chinese slave labor factories. It was even posted on DU, and most were very cautious, not wanting to step into a Rove-type Dan Rather trap, not sure it was actually Romney on the tape etc. It soon disappeared from radar. However, Carter took that tiny bit of thread and pulled on it, leading to the source, and that unraveling exposed the butt-nekkid emperor for all to see. The persistence and intelligence of Carter, in how he developed this story is amazing. He did what mainstream professional journalists DID NOT do, pursue the story. They saw the same bit of video he did, but ignored it. He didn't let it go. So the biggest story in this election came not from a talking head, or the New York Times, but from a concerned progressive, armed with curiousity and a computer, like you, like me. It's damn near mythological that the billion dollar corporation of the Romney campaign was mortally wounded by the grandson of a target of Mittens ridicule.
P.S. Both the "unknown source" and JECarter are fans of progressive blogs like Kos and I have no doubt they read and maybe post on DU. If so, know I am eternally grateful.

“James: This is extraordinary. Congratulations! Papa,” the former president told his grandson Tuesday morning in an email obtained by the AP.

For Carter, whose Twitter profile notes he’s looking for work, his success in unearthing the video was followed by a string of job offers Tuesday, from the Ohio Democratic Party to online news sites like The Huffington Post and ThinkProgress.

But the coup de grace for Carter is the irony that Romney has spent many months assailing the elder Carter’s record on everything from foreign affairs to small business policy, hoping to saddle the incumbent president with the less popular vestiges of his Democratic predecessor.

“I’ve gotten a lot of Twitter messages from people supporting me and saying that it’s poetic justice that it was a Carter that uncovered this, considering the way that the Romney campaign has been talking about my grandfather,” Carter said. “I agree with that sentiment wholeheartedly.”
