Univision says that during his townhall with them, not only did the Romney campaign packed the hall with non-students because they couldnt find enough supporters on campus, but when the anchor gave an introduction to Mitt that he didnt like, he refused to go on until they re-taped it. A Republican present called it a temper tantrum.
That wouldnt be the last demand from the campaign: Romney himself almost pulled the plug on the whole thing minutes before the broadcast, Salinas said.
While introducing Romney at the top of the broadcast, Salinass co-anchor, Jorge Ramos, noted that the Republican candidate had agreed to give the network 35 minutes, and that Obama had agreed to a full hour the next night. Ramos then invited the audience to welcome Romney to the stage but the candidate didnt materialize.
It was a very awkward moment, believe me, Salinas said.
Apparently, Romney took issue with the anchors beginning the broadcast that way, said Salinas, and he refused to go on stage until they re-taped the introduction. (One Republican present at the taping said Romney threw a tantrum.)

Romney...Thurston Howell with a nasty temper.
The debates are gonna be a sight to behold, especially considering the fact Romney will be very desperate.

(529 posts)being introduced that way? I thought that's the way it was done on TV 99.9% of the time.
Maybe he expected your highness?

(18,048 posts)Basically, they covered for him.
What they SHOULD HAVE DONE was to do things his way and make a separate report--instead of STRETCHING HIS REMARKS to make it look like he gave them the same amount of time the President did.
In that separate report, they should have explained what went down.
They did not do that, so they can f*** off, IMO. For any Univision viewer, the candidates were presented fairly, end of story.

(11,461 posts)because they out him? Like the other poster mentioned, Univision fucked up, they presented their show as equal
parity while this spoiled child acted up behind the scene, that is part of the dishonesty we're talking about when it
comes to M$M, they were more focused on getting the show on the road than putting him in his place.
They ended up producing a show for Mitt that looks like an hour by stretching the 35 minutes he requested, that is
dishonesty, imo they can fuck off too.

(18,048 posts)The people who watched that show have no idea, unless they search on the Internet for political stories that mention this. Is Univision reporting this on their news broadcasts?
My guess is no.

(41,915 posts)I can't recall who posted it but I think it's more than apocryphal. There was supposedly a complete, abusive fit thrown at the poster's father when Mitt was a youngster and the man dared to park his car in the driveway while making a service call, blocking the Young Master's car.
Anyone recall the original post?

(27,648 posts)I recall that post....It happened in Michigan, when Willard's father, George, was the governor.
"My father at the time worked for the Road Commission.
One day, his supervisor had to drop off something at the Romney house.
He took my father and another co-worker along in a county truck.
They pulled up to the front of the house, the supervisor dropped whatever it was off.
(possibly survey data) and they began to drive away.
Mitt Romney then came flying up in his own car, jumps out and begins yelling at them.
You see, it seems that Mitt didn't take too kindly to lowly county workers parking their truck in his driveway.
Apparently, it would 'look bad' for people such as themselves to be seen in front of his house. (I believe an entrance for servants was mentioned)
In any case, my father's supervisor was so insulted and pissed that he wanted to kill Romney.
My father and the co-worker held him back because they were afraid that he might do just that.
There's no way of proving this story, of course, but I've no reason to doubt my father."
