..... stop interrupting your interviewees! He's like the Chris Matthews of meteorology.

(25,541 posts)When the reporter becomes the celebrity in the mix. We saw that with Tweety certainly, and much as I love Rachel her incessant verbiage during the question is quite off-putting if you were watching the interview to hear what the interviewee has to say.

(13,895 posts)The talking heads on MSM do this a lot. I don't know if they can't wait to say what they want to say? Disrespect the person they are interviewing? They have short term memory loss and have to get it out before they forget? To me it's just plain RUDE.. I have no problem calling out people I talk with about this rude practice. Many times people don't realize they are doing it.
I guess if you watch MSM enough you pick up some of their bad habits...

(6,582 posts)Yes, I think you're right. It takes a definite amount of skill to 'mentally stack' things you'd like to say/ask after someone finishes speaking. The person who (IMO) excells at this is Chuck Rosenberg, especially when he's on a discussion panel. I've seen him systematically reply to several people, or comment on things they'd brought up - even though he'd been sitting quietly listening to everyone for 5 minutes or more.
Simply amazing.
Within the last 5 years or so, a person being interviewed actually asked the host to stop interrupting them - can't recall who either person was, but the host shot back with something like "It's my show and I'll talk when I want to."

(13,895 posts)He totally impressed me... You could just see the gears working in his head as he talked. He has a way of articulating his ideas are thoughtful and to the point but not demeaning..
"It's my show and I'll talk when I want to"...... uff what a dick..A retaliation to being rude.
At that point say "thats twice, good bye"... get up and go... Then again that's me YMMV
