(17,651 posts)Hard to remember everything but I think that Palin was drawing more people than McCain. If she didn't do anything else she filled the stands and the wallets of the GOP pretty well in '08.
Ryan just had a stumper today - M$M was happy to say that the place was packed and how excited the crowds were. The camera never panned around so no way to know for sure.
Good question...

Romney had a brief moment after the GOP Convention where he & Ryan drew a good crowd in Florida, but other than that, I can't think of many rallies where he's had a huge number of supporters. Moreover, the point that they need a heads up to pull in bigger crowds, therefore making it more difficult to schedule events on the fly, is also pretty telling.
Remember when he was busing in Mormons for campaign events during the primaries? My bet is he's doing it again. If he holds a rally in Colorado or Nevada, he probably has to get supporters from Utah out there to grow the crowds.

3. Booze. Set up a free wet bar at the entrance. Beer for all, mixed drinks for "E" Ticket holders.
4. PortaPotties. Any self-respecting RW crowd needs a lot of PortaPotties. If you install them, they will come.
