** Nerd alert - I just noticed something. In the space of a minute, there were 850 new cases noted, and four more deaths. That's the rate-of-increase per minute??? I imagine we'd need to see several sets of stats and then take an average, to be able to make any sort of credible statement about how fast this is still spreading.
And we've got two VERY significant milestones not too far up the road anymore: 6,000,000 confirmed cases and 200,000 deaths. I'd guess we'll probably reach six-million cases first. The death figures are what I've heard often referred to as "lagging indicators." Each one of those "lagging indicators," don't forget, is a human being. Somebody's husband or wife. Somebody's mom or dad. Somebody's grandparent, auntie, uncle, cousin, neighbor, friend, lover, coworker. There are lots of somebody's tears attached to every single one.
