1. No more BP. Obviously, the worst path.

2. Shuri as BP (or maybe Nakia...better fighter, better leader). Perhaps have T'Challa and Nakia get married, and then T'Challa dies heroically in the intro with a funeral and Nakia takes over leadership. Point is, like the comics, you could go with a female BP.

3. Killmonger as BP. We thought he died, but T'Challa saved him and put him in stasis. Killmonger is revived, sees T'Challa has died, and vows to take his stead as BP upholding his ideals in the process. Alternatively? M'Baku takes over as BP, while Nakia rules in a split between BP and ruler of Wakanda.

4. A new actor takes on BP/T'Challa. Second worst path. Really bad idea.

So to me either you have one of the women in T'Challa's life take on the mantle, or you have one of Killmonger or M'Baku take on the mantle out of respect for T'Challa. You give T'Challa a glorious and heroic death befitting Chadwick Boseman, and the changeover happens out of that despair in honor of him.

This is the first half of the movie, the second half is fighting the next big bad (Namor?). Then you can sprinkle the new BP into future iterations to replace CPT America the way they originally planned with T'Challa.

Suffice to say, I agree with Jemele. BP is too important to African Americans, to children of color. You can't just cancel the character, and you can't just stick another actor into the T'Challa role...that's Chadwick's role.
