That sounds like it maybe ... sucks? (nt) mr_lebowski Sep 2020 #1
Was this not more or less expected as such stays are often granted? nt Atticus Sep 2020 #2

Not unexpected. Honestly, would have been shocked if it was denied. Nevilledog Sep 2020 #5
Didn't Vance already pull the request pending the hearing anyway greenjar_01 Sep 2020 #6
No, he decided to allow Trump to request the stay. lagomorph777 Sep 2020 #9

...as the election looms. Many (including myself) will have voted while this is still being banged around in court.

Haven't seen successful stall tactics like this since the four corners offense prior to the advent of the shot clock.

it’s to stall legal proceedings against him. This has been his MO his entire career.
This time, it might hurt him: these cases are not going away if he loses the election. He’s going to find he has a lot fewer options to delay action against him once he’s out of office.

Cy Vance voluntarily chose not to enforce the subpoena and allowed the appeal to proceed.

This means two things - 1. He already has enough ammo from Deutsche Bank records to file charges and 2. He did not want to fuck up the admissibility of the evidence by enforcing a subpoena and then have it tossed out of the criminal case.

So, today's ruling means nothing. Somewhere in Cy McCoy's office there are tax lawyers and CPAs going over the Deutsche Bank documents already and we shall hear from the grand jury in a few weeks. Making false statements on a loan application is a felony and Trumpies must have done it at least 500 times in those applications and all of them must have signed the documents.
