"Who were the good guys?"

"What's the big deal about Pearl Harbor?"

"Why should America join the Allies?"

My god in heaven.

4. My dad

Who flew 60 missions in the South Pacific during WWII as a tail gunner.

The ignorance of that statement is simply dumbfounding. Incomprehensible. The words of a ignoramus totally lacking in morals.

But what gets my gall is that for all the war cemeteries at which he uttered these reprehensible words about "losers" and "suckers," does he not know that—except for Afghanistan and Iraq—many of these fallen soldiers were conscripted? They weren't suckers who signed up for little pay and danger (as Trump imagines it). They were drafted, and instead of sneaking out with bone spurs they showed up and did their duty. World War I, WWII, Vietnam. My father was one of them: he went to enlist at the outbreak of the war but was rejected for flat feet (!). But not long after he was drafted (he said by that point they'd take anybody with 2 arms and 2 legs). He served for 4 1/2 years and was proud of his service to the end of his 100 years. (Except for the bombs that were dropped; he came to doubt they were always doing the right thing later in life.)
