1. The damage was to docked boats that weren't even participating.

“The waves were probably four to five footers pounding my boat into the dock,” Smith said.

The whip holding his docked boat in place snapped, and he says he fought violently for an hour and a half to keep it from sinking.

“Boaters all know they’re responsible for their waves, but nobody cared,” Smith said. “They just kept going and going and hooting and hollering. Luckily I didn’t slip and go off the side of the dock.”

One of Keith’s neighbors wasn’t as fortunate, and did lose his boat.

“There was so much wake from the boats that it actually lifted my dock up three or four feet, and the waves came underneath my floating dock,” he said. “The waves overwhelmed the boat.”

Assholes.

6. It's just like the anti mask people. No concern for others. Just do what they want to do

and then blame conspiracy theories when it causes problems.

21. From one poster, the damaged boats were not part of the parade.

Typical irresponsible Trumpers to care only about themselves.

8. Matt Hooper to Chief Brody in Jaws:

"You know those eight guys in the fantail launch out there? Well, none of 'em are gonna get out of the harbor alive."

Both of those parades were kinda like deja vu, ya know?

9. those boat parade disasters are such a metaphor for what it means to support drumpf

rules are for other people, not me

we know better than anyone else, we don't need silly regulations

it is the rich that are ruining us with their big boats, and we'll blame obama all the way to the bottom of the lake.

selfish
foolish
racist
pathetic human beings. i will never forgive them for destroying America.

13. Wouldn't these parades need a permit from some governing body?

Time to reject any more applications. The parades are obviously a giant magnet for idiots and assholes.

16. I don't think so; the waterways are public and if people want to boat together,

I don't think there are any rules against it. There aren't a lot of ways of enforcing the Coast Guard's right-of-way and other rules, although drunken boating is illegal everywhere and I'm sure there was a fair amount of that. Part of the St. Croix River is within the National Park system but I don't know if that's where they were.

19. There are, however, rules about wakes.

But, like you said, I don't know where they were. I would be suing SOMEBODY.

15. My daughter used to live in that area

She was told that if a boat (or an ice house for those who put such things on frozen lakes) goes underwater there are hefty fines for potential environmental damage.
Not sure if that is true, but there should be such laws.

17. I believe that's true. I know that if you're dumb enough to drive your vehicle on the ice

and it goes through and sinks, it has to be recovered, and that's very expensive.

and every spring there were several in the lake.

22. Every encounter with civilized society is like a fictional old-west bar brawl to them.

Because FREEDUMB! Wee, look at me! I'm a rough, tough, MANLY-MAN, like President Macho!

An attitude that lasts until they hear the sound of a longneck breaking in the background and they realize that that salty taste in their mouths is their own blood and this ain't a Hopalong Cassidy feature movie.
