The MIC just LOVES the way Congress throws money at the Pentagon.
To think for one second they have any interest in curbing that, is foolish.
Something I heard the other day struck me as applicable here, and this is to paraphrase the sentiment;
Since 9/11, the United States has spent several TRILLIONS of dollars fighting back against a threat that had as its genesis, an operation that was carried out by 19 men who entered the US legally. They killed about 3000 people, destroyed buildings using airplanes they commandeered using items completely legal at the time to carry onboard a commercial airline flight- razor bladed box cutter type knives and hand held pepper spray dispensers, and the entire operation cost the perpetrators, including flight training, housing and food, less than $5 million.
And yet, THIS president utterly refuses to spend one dime more than he thinks is necessary to fight against a threat that at the moment, is killing the equivalent of a 9/11 EVERY THREE DAYS.
If the threat was killing only bankers, how much do you think the government would be spending?
ON edit to add....
Oh..yeah...and in the 20 years that make up the meantime, China has poured more concrete building infrastructure, high speed rail lines, divided highways etc. than the US had in the previous 50 years.
We LOVE to spend our tax dollars on Raytheon and General Dynamics and Lockheed.
FUCK the sick and the poor and the bridges and the highways.
The CEOs of those companies need their salaries, dammit!

(13,941 posts)Not enough planes for the Air Force.
Not enough aircraft carriers or ships for the Navy.
Obama left the military in a pathetic state of readiness,... only trDumpie could get the AmeriKKKan military into a war ready fighting force. He is smarter than all the generals put together, and he is 10X braver than any soldier.

(64,425 posts)This isn't exactly a revelation.
And on the "soldiers but not the brass" thing: Stars & Stripes had a poll showing a large plurality voting Biden, then suddenly the plan to shutter the paper went into overdrive.
So, they love him, but they don't so he's going to get his vengeance. How does anybody listen to this tool, and not get whiplash?
