Head of Pro-Trump Super PAC Says Brad Parscale Spent Campaign Cash 'Like a Drunken Sailor'

(Newsweek) A financial crisis might be looming for the campaign for the re-election of President Donald Trump according to The New York Times which has reported around three-quarters of the $1.1 billion raised between the start of 2019 and July 2020 has already been spent.

A review of federal campaign filings and interviews with more than a dozen current and former campaign aides by the paper, including Ed Rollins, a veteran Republican strategist, paint a picture of a potential cash crunch for the Trump campaign.

The Quote

Rollins, who runs a small pro-Trump super PAC took aim at Trump's former campaign manager, Brad Parscale, accusing him of spending money "like a drunken sailor," telling The Times: "If you spend $800 million and you're 10 points behind, I think you've got to answer the question 'What was the game plan?'"

Why it matters

Starting an election campaign as the incumbent confers a financial advantage, as it did for Trump's predecessors Barack Obama and George W. Bush, and Trump's filing for re-election on the day of his inauguration was intended to give him a head start to the stockpiling of his war chest. ...............(more)

That's crazy. And I don't know what he's spent it on, it's not like online or TV is packed with an excess of Trump ads, Joe is more than holding his own there.

Low quality, both audio and video. Ignoring the lies, they're objectively awful.
And they spent big money, obviously, on these.
Yikes!

There will be stories after election day about how it was either incredibly forward looking and made serious inroads with under-40s, or how it was a complete misreading of the effectiveness of digital space, a bubble-like belief that YouTube could produce massive vote conversion the way it produces far more limited ideological radicalization on the right.

In essence, Parscale and his followers were and are betting that you can turn an election in the same way that Rogan, Kirk, Crowder and company serve as gateways to radical right wing views. That's the bet. That's the whole election. They think their strength in this demographic is hidden in polls.

there is some chance that he'll actually spend much of his own cash in an attempt to save his own neck. Let's hope he goes bankrupt in the process of losing resoundingly.

for Trump and his kids/son-in-law. Didn't we read a list of horrendous charges to his hotel in DC during the convention? That has to be part of it. They certainly didn't spend it on the convention, itself. The Repuke Party rarely pays the entire amount to cities who host him.

Trump knows he won't have a job after January, so he has to be setting up deposits off-shore. Melania needs a million or so for her divorce, the boys and Ivanka have lavish lifestyles to support...gotta come from somewhere.

Nothing would surprise me.

If into his pocket, not for long!
Debits & credits are simultaneous, given the debt load his failure organization carries.
He'd be bankrupt right now, if he hadn't lucked into a 4 year dodge.

Even if Trump has $300 million left, it is still more than adequate --- more like $5 million per day.
