Not only, are they the architects of the economy's crappiness, they're also hell bent on keeping it as crappy as possible.
They're like people who knock down a building, build a brick wall around the vacant lot, tear up all the streets to the area and then bitch about the fact that another building wasn't put up to replace it.
They do their damnedest to hamstring the President, and then blame HIM for being divisive.
They blame the government for causing the country's problems, but gloss over the fact that whenever they're put in charge, they're the ones who are actually causing the country's problems from their government policies.
They complain that people are "dependent on the government", but they obstruct any way that the government can help working class people obtain the kind of work that get them to be independent.
They're hostile to workers, they're hostile to women who want decent wages, they undercut education to help people get better jobs, they help to send good jobs overseas, they fight to keep trickle down tax cuts around that drain capital from working people and slow down the economy.
I don't get these people, they're cutting all of our throats slowly and they resent the fact that people are trying to stop them.
Hopefully, the voters will fix their little red wagons.

(152,966 posts)they are hypocrites, but too stupid to understand what that really means

(18,572 posts)Hypocrisy doesn't matter.
Lying doesn't matter.
Damaging the country doesn't matter.
Destroying people's lives doesn't matter.
The only thing that matters is regaining total control of the government.
But it's also based on the premise that most Americans are stupid.
They are counting on no one being able to see through their plot.
They break a glass and then point to the other guy and say, "he did it." and expect their word to be accepted without question.
That's the sum total of their political strategy for the last 4 years.
It's beginning to look like Americans aren't quit as dim as they hoped.
Just their supporters are.

(56,827 posts)and that the president gets the lion's share of the blame (or credit) on the economy, no matter what. So, they're counting on that to swing low info voters.

(37,132 posts)Amything that takes the wind out of the ignorant and idiotic "capitalism vs socialism" false dichotomy. There's more than one kind of capitalism, and the kind that we had in this country, which built the widespread postwar prosperity, isn't the kind we have today.

(582 posts)Before I even fired up the computer this morning, sitting outside and contemplating my first cigarette, I was thinking about the difference between the Great Depression and the apparently now named Great Recession. Question, if the economy is so bad, how come the rich got richer? That did not happen in the Great Depression. Why are the people who got richer attacking the President? And before I stubbed out that smoke, how in heaven's name did the Republicans create a feeling of victim hood in the rich by creating envy for the poor?

(17,301 posts)The rich hoarded their money just like today. Just because the stock market crashed doesn't mean every rich person in 1929 lost all their money. Many, a wealthy man survived just fine and even bought up possessions of those who lost their wealth; becoming even more wealthy after the depression.
That's why socialism and communism was so popular during the 1st RepubliCON Great Depression. The working people saw their rich bosses doing just fine and felt they had been betrayed by capitalists.
The rich get richer because they are in positions of power and influence at the time of mass suffering. They use it as an excuse to feather their own nests. The filthy rich have always been a corrupt and selfish breed of people. Anyone who has almost unlimited resources and power gets corrupted eventually. Some sooner than others. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and almost absolute wealth corrupts absolutely. FDR was called a traitor to his class because he was trying to save all of America not just the rich.
This sense of self pity and haughty anger the filthy rich are showing is because they know they have done wrong and are feeling a tinge of guilt. They know they have gotten rich through corruption and theft NOT by hard work. They feel people are looking at them as if they are criminals. So like little children they claim they have done NO wrong while eating their stolen cookies.
The Welfare Queens and greedy poor are smoke screens the filthy rich and powerful throw out. See, look over there is a person you can get your hands on and blame for this mess me and my rich buddies have created. While you are looking over there, you wont notice who is really stealing your nation's wealth.
