Question about receiving republican fund raising mail
So periodically I receive republican / trump fund raising mail surveys. The first one I grabbed a sharpie and filled it out with hell no etc. then mailed it back. With don’t send me this crap again take me their list.
I also complained to different agencies like my local election office because that one was made to look like it was on official letter from them. Since then got a couple more just shredded them. Well I got two more, one says “look I put stamps on it” (three 1 cent stamps) I again took out my sharpie said “do not send me this crap” “I won’t vote gop or trump he is worst ever, terrible job” etc. I’m not sure why they send me this crap I’m not a registered anything much less republican. Although some of those mylife websites seems to think so. To many of those scam sites not worth fixing. Don’t know where they got that Info. Anyhow my question is. Is it worth a stamp and time filling out “Do not send me this crap” and basically “trump and the gop suck.” “I would never vote much less support them/ him.” Or is shredding it the better idea. They just piss me off when I get them in the mail like I asked for their crappy survey fund raising.

1. When we get mail like that,
and mail from our teahadist congressman, my husband takes the time to fill it out with nasty replies. It helps him keep his sanity.

2. Not sure if this will help with your anger
When you mail it back, it costs them the stamp money and it financially helps the USPS.

5. Mostly they come so the returner
Has to pay the postage. If they paid postage I would probably send them all back and not tell them to take my name off their list because I’m helping the USPS. But when I pay the postage I think Small price on my end and it does help the post office.
But I almost feel ill when I receive it because it’s like they think I want to. YUCK |

3. Oh, I like to print out scathing articles and send it back to them.
If they’ve sent me an envelope, it would be rude not to send them something, right?

4. Good luck.
You're on a mailing list and it's too much trouble for them to find and remove your name from that list. It's just not going to happen.
I've tried to get my name off legitimate paper publications that I already receive a digital copy of and can't even get that done. Someone who knows these things told me the orgs who do the mailings just aren't going to allocate any staff or resources to weeding out names of people who don't want to be on their list. Don't waste your energy on anger or your money on stamps. Just shred the shit and forget about it. |

6. If you aren't a "registered anything"
They may think you are persuadable or unknown or independent etc.
Responding to one mail won't effect the others or it may not even effect the one you are responding to. |

8. don't take it personnally........
mass mailings aren't targeting at specific people, they just get a list of addresses and blast out postcards to everyone on the list. There are 325+ million people in this country and no one has the time or staff to go person by person to figure out who they should target, or who they are wasting their time on, so they just send out letters to everyone.

9. Only perform a "Return to Sender" if the following applies, else the USPS eats the costs.
.
If something printed on the envelope states “Return Service Requested” or “Forwarding Service Requested” or “Address Service Requested” then, if you write 'Return to Sender' the original mailer pays for the return mail costs. If those are NOT written on the envelope, then the USPS either pays for it if it is 1st Class, or the USPS destroys it back at the postal facility, especially if it is bulk mail. So, in these cases, it's best not to return them because it just takes money from the USPS. . |

10. I have a hard fast rule: Never, ever, play their game
If you send that shit back with your name or bar codes attached, you will end up on other lists and your will start receiving different shit. You WILL also receive alarmingly deceptive slates designed for Democratic voters that has ONE down ballot republican candidate listed (always look at the asterisk to see who is paying for the slate, and you will be surprised)
That being said, I have been known to mail the crap back in their SASE. That is, after I completely sanitize it by removing my name and ALL bar codes. |
