Indicted John Doe embezzler was in Govenor Scott Walker's inner circle

Ex-Walker aide was in inner circle

By Steve Schultze, Dave Umhoefer and Daniel Bice of the Journal Sentinel

"He was one of Walker's most trusted confidants," said Orville Seymer, a property manager active in recall politics through Citizens for Responsible Government. "That's what makes this so shocking. Walker trusted him implicitly. He's not guilty yet but the evidence looks pretty strong." CRG jump-started the recall drive against then-County Executive F. Thomas Ament in 2002, leading to Walker's victory in a special election later the same year.

Richard Longabaugh, former executive director at WHEDA, was tight-lipped when asked why Russell left the agency, describing it as a "personnel issue." Longabaugh declined to elaborate.

"I'm not familiar with what I could and could not say," said Longabaugh, now the provost at Nashotah House Theological Seminary.

(snip)

"He was basically a political operative of Scott Walker" who "meddled" in various supervisory campaigns, said former Supervisor Richard Nyklewicz Jr. "I really didn't think very highly of him as a county employee," Nyklewicz said.

unions pension and insurance funds when they "turn them over to private independent agencies" to take care of. I read all the time of Walker putting state funds into these agencies. I just got notice that my Badgercare is being taken over by a consorteum to manage the funds. How much you want to bet it's another repub slush fund "non-profit" just set up? And how much you want to bet it's funneling funds into repub coffers?
