I did not. My primary care practitioner thought it not worth the trouble in my case. I got the regular version.

They pretty much automatically give you the over 65 version if you over 65.

11. It's there for the asking. Not bothering was my primary care practitioner's (PCP's) recommendation.

He felt that my immune system was sufficiently robust that hi-test was overkill, and that I could run just as well on regular. If it doesn't work out, I can go back and get a tank of the leaded.

I'm with Kaiser Permanente.

5. ABSODAMNLUTELY! Friends who call me know they'd better be prepared to say they have or are about to

and mean it. I have little tolerance right now for those who won't take the basic protections available to save their lives during a historical record-setting pandemic. And, getting a flu shot, socially distancing, wearing a face-covering is little enough to ask when lives are at stake. That is my soapbox and I'm glued to it!

BTW, in "normal" years, waiting until October is probably optimal for a lot of people--especially older individuals whose derived immunity may be less vigorous and shorter-lived than the more robust response of the young. That said, this year, one needs to factor in the crowd sizes one is likely to encounter waiting with others for the vaccine when demand is high. While CDC has not addressed that this year, the truth is that earlier may well be better for most or all of us.

a vaccine yesterday. First flu vaccine in over 65 years! Have heard warnings over & over again how important it is to get a flu shot in 2020 coupled with C-19. Remember that masks aren't 100% effective. Be well....

It's a fact that masks help reduce the risks of Covid, colds, flu, etc. I will agree with you on this: They are not 100% effective, especially the cheap masks. Luckily though, I live in a masks mandate state (NY), so I'm around other people who also have masks on. When both wear it, it greatly reduces the risks.

As a teacher as the post-grad level (with mandated attendance for professional certification reasons) I'm in contact with a significant number of germy students every day. Haven't had the flu since I started this gig in 2013, and I think only once since I started paying such close attention to personal hygeine. This year I will be even safer, since I've added a mask - and others are also wearing masks.

17. Walked to Safeway yesterday. They actually have a medical room where they administered the

vaccine. Just had to fill out a one page form. It was free with Medicare. Received 2
coupons to use in the store. My own doctor didn't have any openings for the vaccine until October. That seemed too late because it takes several weeks for the vaccine to be effective Therefore, the time to get one is NOW!...

It's also worth noting that the Southern Hemisphere had essentially no flu season, this winter just ended. Apparently, greatly reduced travel to and from China made a difference.

So chances are we will also have a greatly reduced incidence of flu this year.
