I already know that I won't. I think the election is going to be enough of a clusterfrig for Trump to declare victory.

(14,118 posts)I expect more of the same here in 2020 concerning all number reporting.

(21,563 posts)Hell scream and stomp his feet but as long as Biden gets 270 certified votes it is over. Im sure there will be a bazillion lawsuits but Biden will eventually win.

(5,557 posts)Liiving in a red rural area makes it obvious every time I go out the depth of Trump's support around here. Its worse than 2016 with the Trump flags and signs.
I will not believe him winning the popular vote, the only way I see it being remotely possible is the same kind of very narrow win in the rust belt, carried by high turnout and margin rural areas.
That being said, I don't expect to have to think about that. I firmly believe Biden will win this comfortably by at minimum reclaiming MI and PA. (Though PA will be close).

(4,845 posts)Something like winning all Hillary's states + WI + MI and maybe AZ but still short for the magic 270 EV number.
I am not saying Trump will win because the polling still favors Biden. But I could still possibly see that result.

(68,556 posts)posts like this. Trump is going to lose...I believe on election night Biden will be declared the winner. Trump is a shitty guy who barely won last time and has less support this time....the states that gave him the win all have GOP governors this time...he is going to lose.

But I will accept the numbers because I respect the system. If the Secretary of State of California certifies a vote count that says 2 million voted for Biden while 15 million voted for Trump in California, I will accept that judgment, even though I strongly believe that its a lie.
So long as states remain supreme over federal elections, no matter how corrupt those states may be, then I will feel like our basic system is secure and working as it should. I would resist and greatly fear federalizing our elections. I will accept the word of the states that the vote counts that their governments submit are accurate (even if I strongly believe that they are inaccurate). Thats how, as I understand it, our system is designed to work.

(10,624 posts)If the election were held today, I'd not be willing to believe a Trump victory in any of the key Midwest battleground states (or Pennsylvania). The polling has just been too consistent up to now.
I don't have any expectations when it comes to Florida, other than the fact that it would be a death-blow for Trump if Biden pulls it out.
If Fox News (correctly) calls Florida for Biden on election night, it will save the nation weeks of chaos and misery.

(32,693 posts)in real time!! People are naively focused on polls which don't matter one bit when you have a president, senate majority leader and attorney general who are desperate to stay in power (to avoid prison). The fact that they are willing to destroy crucial infrastructure, including the USPS, shows how ruthless they are.
Meanwhile, our side continues to follow norms, which lends credibility to the process and indicates consent with everything that's going on in the background. The decision to debate tRump further normalizes and legitimizes a very abnormal election in which the GOP has refused to provide funding for mail-in voting and the sitting president has urged his supporters to vote TWICE, among other things.

(12,286 posts)If he is declared "winner" then I will believe mail in ballots were deliberately stolen ("lost" or that Russians hacked voting machines and literally changed votes.
I don't think he won in 2016.
