Gak! An old friend of mine sent me this link:

To say that I was surprised and appalled is an understatement. I have no idea when he went over to the dark side. I sent him a short note expressing my astonishment and asking what was going on. I also expressed some disapproval in a kind of mild form, mild for me at least. He responded and was dismayed that I had been offended. I am going to send one more note, but it may end the friendship.

I don't even know where to start -a short summary on Russian history? Refuting the claim that the US is a Christian nation? Refuting the notion that 'The Jews' still run everything? Slamming the denial of the Holocaust? Good gawd!

He is an adherent of the views at abundanthope.net. It is a hot mess of views of every kind. I have no idea if there is a central belief that binds them together. I can't read that much dreck.

I could send him a real 'come to Jesus' message about this shite. I will to formulate a concise and coherent response that is firm about this crap. I will hold the flames for now.

Peddle that tripe. The churches like this are dangerous.They have cell churches and cheer for the ebnd of the world.They are cultic.Dangerous,I was once involved nearly made me crazy.

That I would rather not know. When did seemingly reasonable people become right wing religious libertarian "me first" nut bags? Most of what they say doesn't even make sense!

The country is still reeling from the debacle of the Bush regime, the world economy is teetering on the brink of implosion, and scientists are warning us we may be facing global climate catastrophe.

Shit like that takes its toll on the mental health of people after a while. Not making excuses, but that may at least help explain why some people are becoming like that.
