5. PAC Ads to Attack Romney as Predatory Capitalist.

Thanks to a $5 million donation from a wealthy casino owner, a group supporting Newt Gingrich plans to place advertisements in South Carolina this week attacking Mitt Romney as a predatory capitalist who destroyed jobs and communities, a full-scale Republican assault on Mr. Romney’s business background. . .

Winning Our Future got the money for the campaign from Sheldon Adelson, a billionaire casino owner in Las Vegas who has long supported Mr. Gingrich.

The group said it would spend $1 million initially on radio and TV advertisements starting Wednesday in South Carolina, where the campaign will move after New Hampshire. Mr. Gingrich, who held the lead in the polls in South Carolina last month before falling back, attributes his fade there and earlier in Iowa, where he finished fourth in the caucuses last week, to a deluge of attack advertisements from a super PAC supporting Mr. Romney, Restore Our Future.

When Mr. Gingrich accused Mr. Romney at a debate on Saturday in New Hampshire of following a “Wall Street model” where “you can basically take out all the money, leaving behind the workers,” Mr. Romney retorted that he had helped create 100,000 jobs, citing successes like Staples.

We all remember the corporate raiders of the 1980s and beyond; and the term brings back dark memories:

THEY were the much-feared and often reviled commanders of the takeover wars of the 1980's. Fueled by junk bonds, they raided corporate America seemingly at will, and made vast fortunes. In their heyday, they hobnobbed with the junk-bond king Michael R. Milken at his annual "Predators' Ball."

Axelrod has already used the term; if they can make it stick, he's gonna have a lot of 'splainin to do.

Both give off a same general persona. If anything Gecko is more likable.

It fits him to a tee and most of the low information voters would understand the association. Maybe we can do for "Romney" what we did for "Santorum" via Google bombing.

"When Mitt Romney Came To Town" is a 27-minute film that'll be released on the web soon. Should be pretty interesting.

Funny, a company I worked for in '97 was almost bought by Bain. We ended up being bought by another group of sharks. I have been through four takeovers, each one more absurd than the next. Your business gets handed over to someone who neither knows nor cares anything about what you do and/or your customers; just wants you to hit some bullshit "metric" so they can get paid. If you don't, they start cutting the shit out of everything so they get theirs. They have done a ton of damage.

A new team of MBA whiz kids come in and start trashing everything. Cheapen the product, "downsize" - always a set number of people; don't care where the bodies come from, just make it happen, outsource manufacturing (even if it is a core competency), slash inventory, and cut expenses. Play around with the books and, voila, ready for for another buyout...and another cycle of the same shit. By the 3rd or 4th 'restructuring", the company is pretty much done.

Steal what's left in the public sector cupboard now that businesses are a less juicy target.

Good times, America.
