twitchy...squirmy...eyes blinking too much...that sort of stutter that he does, when he's lying...

And what is the status of the application to have Queen Ann on stage with him?

I just listened to Romney talk at the education summit..and I must say--he is articulate and he can pull himself together and manage to sound like a human being.

Although a few of the things he said were truly repugnant, when he's got a bit of luck on his side, and when he's not coming apart at the seams like a discombobulated fool--he can appear quite "presidential" and intelligent.

I don't think we should be expecting that Romney will fall flat on his face during the debates. These debates are so scripted and rehearsed. He's got his talking points. He's got his barbs that he will lob at Obama. He's spent hours and days on these debates, because he knows that this is it.

And one point--Romney has been such a "rolling calamity" (to borrow a phrase from P. Noonan!) that even a mediocre debate performance will come off as brilliance, to some. The expectations are so low for him, because he's been in hyper-buffoon mode for the past several weeks. Unfortunately, some people will be impressed by an idiot who can be a non-idiot for 90 minutes.

This is far from over folks. That's the bad news. The good news? People begin voting in Ohio and in Iowa (my state) in just a few days.

CoffeeCat : "I don't think we should be expecting that Romney will fall flat on his face during the debates."

CoffeeCat : "This is far from over folks.

These are my sentiments exactly. Everyone's picking at Romney and I think he might steal the show come debate time. I would not be surprised if he became our President. Many people have stated that he's a good debater and have labeled Pres. Obama as kind of weak when it comes to debates. I remember four years ago when Obama had his first debate with McCain, I thought he was ok, but most media outlets gave him a poor showing. Some people are easily influenced. Most Dems and Repubs have their minds made up, but those undecideds and independents, Romney could impress them and he's been prepping pretty hard from what I hear and he's had MORE practice since he's not long ago ran for the Republican nominee. I hope Pres. Obama uses his time to prep considerably. I also think that this is the reason why Romney doesn't say much of what HE plans to do, because he's saving it for the debates. I hope Obama can stand up to the challenge.

to his memorized talking points--much as he's done all year and in the mode of Sarah the nitwit Palin.

The only time he'll be direct is in making lying accusations towards Obama. I'm not optimistic any of the moderators will hold him to account--Lehrer and Schieffer will probably make some pretense of doing so, but will let it drop after one attempt.
